| I have one recording that Elliot did for Musical Heritage Society
("Mountain Songs", a collection of duets for flute and guitar). I'm
no expert on classical guitar but I like his playing and especially
like his emphasis on modern works instead of just trotting out the Bach
transcriptions and some Sor.

I have met him and seen him several times in small
performances (large private house parties, etc.) around Boston in the
late '70s. I havn't followed him, didn't even know that he was
recording - I remember him as being an excellent technical player and
a pretty good interpreter (re-arranger, transcriber, whatever) of
works for other instruments. I agree, more than just another standard
repertoire person.

| For those interested in listening to a hair-raising
classical guitar CD, check out Elliot's 1993 recording of
Paganini's 24 Caprices. In the liner notes, Elliot says
he was driven to record ALL 24 Caprices on his guitar
after hearing John Williams' recording of the astounding
24th Caprice years back. Elliot Fisk plays these pieces
with FIRE!

For what it's worth, the recent Rochberg Variations
CD by Elliot Fisk got a superb review in the latest
Stereo Review magazine for quality and performance.

| There's nothing like hearing about a recital until
after it's happened. Such was the case with Elliot Fisk
who played at the Gardner Musuem in Boston on Sunday.
(and according to one account, he NAILED Paganini's 24th
Caprice! Damn.)
At any rate, if anyone should hear about any upcoming
concerts taking place in New England, please let me know.
BTW, he's got two new CD's out, more info to come.

Looks like Elliot Fisk will be on the faculty at the New England
Conservatory this fall, I believe.
SO, hopefully I can see him in a faculty recital or something to that
extent in and around the Hub.
