Died Monday morning at 5am at USC's Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center
of liver cancer. He recorded more than 60 albums and won a Grammy in
1975 for his work with Oscar Peterson and Niels Pedersen on "The Trio"
album. He was considered "the most evocative mainstream jazz guitarist
    of the post-Wes Montgomery period."

Bummer. My favorite Christmas album is his "Six String Santa".
    Rest easy, Joe.

A friend just sent me Joe's latest CD on Telarc, it's called "my song".
In the liner notes he says that it's his tribute to his three
favorite jazz guitarists: Django Reinhart, Charlie Christian, and Wes
Mongomery. It is a fitting final album for my favorite jazz guitarist.

    RIP indeed.
