2860.1 | WHAT KIND OF AMP ARE YOU USING? | NEEPS::IRVINE | If Slash was born in Scotland.... | Mon Nov 29 1993 08:43 | 16 |
| Placy,
What kind of amp are you using.... at present I use an ME-6 in the fx loop of a
5150 (so the EVH sound is no problem). The stuff that I play in my band is as
varied as you could wish... Belinda Carlise & Patti Smith through to UFO, THIN
LIZZY....
THe kind of amp you use will *definately* effect the sound produced from the ME-6.
What I can do is list off some of my settings with a breif description of use and
a sounds like description (but that will be next week sometime).
Let me know if you would like this stuff.
Bonzo (Bill, JC, I still need to un-load the 5150 so I can gert a nice noooow
Marshall)

2860.2 | Send in the pre-sets | KAOFS::P_DESOUZA | | Mon Nov 29 1993 09:07 | 10 |
| Hi! I am quite interested in your pre-sets. Please post them here or
mail me. Whatever is most convenient. I have played around quite a bit
with it since I last entered the note and am dialling in some nice
tones. Richard seems to be quite down on it though and I was going to
try and get in touch with you , based on one of your replies, but you
beat me to it.
Thanks!

Just to pick up on the last point (ie me being down on the ME6).
I've had mine well over a year now and still havn't removed the
cellophane covering on the panel and have all packing. This is because
I'm still not sure I'll keep it. I've used it a lot though.
I was definitely spoilt by my ALESIS MicroVerb III which I still have.
This digital delay/reverb unit cost the same as my ME6 with its 101
facilities. Not surprisingly the depth depth of tone etc off the Mverb
beats the ME6 hands down. The only problem is I cannot mix delay and
reverb with it (which I can with the ME6). However, for reverbs/delay
I'd use the Mverb any day.
For overdrive, well my Fender Studio 112 amp beats the ME6 offerings
hands down. SO for overdrive I use the amp.
Compression, Noise Reduction? Well, just don't use it live. Played with
it but that's about it.
At the end of the day all I really use the ME6 for is Chorus/Flange
type effects. BUT, and this is a big BUT, when you can add a bit of
delay or reverb with some chorus you can get beautiful sounds and its
this that makes me reluctant to part with my ME6.

2860.4 | Some but not all I use | NEEPS::IRVINE | Bob Irvine: B.S., M.S., P.H.D. | Tue Dec 14 1993 03:15 | 47 |
| Placy,
As promised here is some of the settings I use on my ME-6.
I now use a Marshall 8100 Valvestate, so exact copies of these settings
may not produce the same results.....
I do not use the ME-6 Distortion or compression so I will list from EQ onwards.
