A really slow, but really cool solo is ...
Jeff Beck's cover of "Cause We've Ended As Lovers"

I wondered what that stuff was!

| "Comfortably Numb" - David "Pink Floyd" Gilmour. It's slow, but a
classic 'slow burn.'

| RE -2:
"Love Hurts" by Nazareth may have the prize for lowest pluck/note
ratio. He plucks once & the rest is done with feedback.
A long time ago I covered a song called "Goin' Down Slow" & sometimes
our guitar player would "ham it up" by playing exceptionally slow
solos, but since it's not on vinyl, that doesn't count.
The *guitar* solo to "Toad" by Cream has a long one note feedback
"solo" just before the drum break, but since the whole song is an
instrumental, I don't know if you can count this either.

| Santana's live version of "Europa"..... at one point he holds the same
note for like 16 bars!

I heard there's a Japanese boot where he holds that note for 59
bars.

| Larry Carlton holds one note for about 8 bars on "Strikes Twice".
Morse plays a GREAT slow solo on "Night Meets Light" (perhaps my
favorite Dregs tune).

| Even though I know Brian started this topic as sort of a goof, I'll
bite anyway. Heard a good "slow" guit solo at lunch today, one that
didn't spring to mind right away. Mick Ronson on Bowie's "Moonage
Daydream". A cool long-tones solo, and an underappreciated guitarist
for sure.
