FYI - I called Fender and their phone messaging service has fererred me
to a place called "Smart Parts" 708-427-0053. That's who you call
if you want parts or schematics and your on the East Coast. There
are different parts places if you're West coast or Canada. Looks
like I found the right people.

Thank God for this. Trying to buy parts through a Fender dealer is quite
frankly an exercise in futility. It's like talking to the bubbleheads in
Radio Shack about...just about anything.

Yea, but the last time I tried to get parts from Fender directly, they
gave me the 'minimum order' BS! I need one freaggin' fine-tuning screw
for my bass, and I don't want to buy stuff I don't need to get it. I'm
going to try this number also... thanks for the info folks!

A lot of these are oddball threads etc, but where Fender is American
made, you may have pretty good odds at a hardware store. You have to
find one that has more than just the usual household junk, but you can
often match these things up using parts that were intended for
something else.
I'm in the process of converting a Peavey T-40 bass to a 5 string (T-50
?) & the only remaining things I need are a string tree & some grooves in
the nut. Good luck.

Re - .4
Frank,
Can anyone order from Smart Parts or do you have to be a
dealer/distributor/repair shop? I need a Fender 50W output
transformer for a repair I'm doing. Also, do you happen to
know their hours? I called the number and got no answer.

Neal,
Anyone can order (I'm not a dealer, just a shmuck trying to fix an amp for
a kid in my sons band). I don't know their hours but I think they are in
Illinois. I called around lunchtime.
They shuip UPS. I don't have my parts yet but so far the experience has been
very plesant. All I ordered was a couple 25w resistors and a couple of fancy
input connectors. I think the whole thing came to about $10. and maybe $6.
for shipping. They were extremely plesant and the first day I called, they
couldn't give me a price quote or availability because Fenders computers
were down. Sure enough, next day they called me back, as promised, with part
numbers and prices. I was impressed, considering the small order I placed.
