    equipment (a separate list is kept for used gear).  I did not write

 This is a list devoted to help us (the musician) get a little better
 edge on them (the store) than we have had in the past. It is a listing
 of equipment and instruments that people on the net have bought in the
 last few years, and how much they paid.
 
 Please note: This is not a list of items for sale, these are not 
 want-ads!
 
 If you see any mistakes in the list, especially the name of a manufacture 
 for any particular amp/effect, please send me correction mail.
 
  Also, if you know the *list price* of something, regardless of whether it
 is currently in the list, please send it along, I'm sure that it will come 
 in handy soon.

   There's the Used Gear and New Gear price list.  And yes, I use/reference
'em both when haggling for new and used gear.

   HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that mail-order places will acknowledge it as
relevant.  For example, I just called House Of Guitars (Rochester, NY) asking
for a price on some gear that the New Gear Price List said they (H.O.G.) sell
at $340.  However, the best price they'd give me was $360 even though I told
'em that the New Gear list said $340.  They simply declared that the $340 price
was a mistake.  Your mileage may vary.

   For used equipment, it's a lot more useful.  And sellers more readily accept
the prices found there as being representative of the market.
