2679.0. "GP (Feb.1993) 'The Bluesmaker'" by TAEC::MALLET (There's a red house over yonder...) Mon Feb 08 1993 06:25
I modified an old (unused) amp using the GP 'The Bluesmaker' schematic.
It is (was ?) a mid 70' Custom Hiwatt 50 (DR504).
The result is great, except the tone controls who sound
'a la' marshall (binary mode : 0 or 10.... no effect between these two values !)
I didn't used the Balance mode between the Clean and High gain channel.
I kept the 2 stock pots, Norm. and Brilliant channel and mixed them through
2 470K resistors. It looks more versatile to me.
The Clean channel sounds great, mucho better than the original Hiwatt sound.
The high gain channel is more a crunch one. Don't expect massive/lead/Tchernobyl
gain. Anyway It IS a cooooool blues sound...
Believe me, If you have an old amp to recycle, choose the 'Bluesmaker'
Regards
