| Sometimes noter Kaz Nagahashi has one of their preamps. From the
sounds on a tape he sent me awhile back, I'd say it sounded excellent!
Perhaps he'll see this and tell us more about it.

| Well, Guitar Player had troubles with BOTH copies of their Engl
"Straight" when they tested it for their 100 Watt Combo Shootout. Got a
poor grade as a result.

The ENGL has been around awhile. I remember seeing an ENGL
"Straight" combo amp back when I was buying KittyHawks.
No doubt the biggest name user is George Lynch. Maybe he knows
how to dial in the sound or had his modified.

| ENGL goes way back, they had MIDI-programmable amps a number of years
ago (these were tube units with presets you could call up). They have
never had a large distributor handling them, which is the usual way a
foreign built amp line makes it in the US.
