| Yep, she's from Austin by way of Canada and sings like Bonnie Raitt and
plays like SRV 8^) 8^)
She has one LP on the Antone's label and has been playing Ed Burke's or
Johnny D's on her trips through town (believe she's rolling in this
week, as a matter of fact).
My band opened up for her once, but I missed it and a sub got the
pleasure instead, otherwise I'd give you an earwitness report.

That would be "from Canada by way of Austin", wouldn't it? :-)
Coincidentally, I just saw her play Tuesday night (at the 8 x 10 in
Baltimore). Dynamite guitar playing! She played a Telecaster, sometimes
with her fingers, sometimes with a flat pick, and sometimes both.
I wouldn't go as far as to say she sings like Bonnie Raitt, though. In
fact, her singing kind of put me off at first, although I acquired a taste
for it as the gig progressed. She didn't have an awful lot of stage
presence, either, but that doesn't bother me terribly.
I believe she's only 23 years old or so. Apparently she started playing in
bars with a fake ID at the age of 14.

| I've had her CD since last spring... very listenable, and each song
exhibits a different playing style, so not only do you get to hear a
very versatile blues stylist do her stuff, but the album goes together
better than a lot of other blues albums.

| I saw Sue Foley open up for Buddy Guy at the Channel and her attitude
put me WAY off.
"Oh, I'm just so jaded and world-weary, can't even bother to hardly
talk to you guys."
And since I literally right at her feet, with the crowd attempting
to make the stage part of my body, I'd say I was close enough.
For my money, most of her licks are copped from SRV. Yes, I know
he copped *his* licks from Albert King and Hendrix, et al, but
he still established his own sound. Too many others are just copying
him, and hoping for the best.
Her singing...besides being affected and lackadaisical, was boring.
Perhaps her CDs are much better, maybe I should check them out.
On the other hand, maybe she should've checked out Buddy Guy and
picked up a few tips on relating to her audience and using dynamics.
JMHO,
Brian
