Anyone heard of Robin Crow? I saw him on TNN tonight and thought his
music was pretty interesting. All instrumentals with kind of a moody
flare to them.
He performed both the songs he did on the show with double necked
guitars, which he said he used different tuning, and used a lot of
delay.
Worth checking out if you get the chance.

I've heard of him. The double-neck is his trademark and he *always*
uses them.
He released 3 vocal albums in the early '80s, but his last 3 have been
instrumental. His latest, "Electric Cinema", was recently released on
Rendezvous Records (division of RCA) and also features Kerry Livgren on
it.
He toured this summer as the opening act for Spyro Gyra, Peter
Frampton, Steve Morse, and is supposed to be joining Kansas for some
opening dates.
As for guitar, he has no formal training (i.e., self-taught). His
influences are ELP, Genesis, Yes, Sting, Don Henley, and Peter Gabriel.
He also says he has an attraction to movie music and enjoys the work of
Stravinsky, John Williams, and Jerry Goldsmith. He tries to focus on
mood, arrangement, and melody. He is not necessarily a 'frets per
second' player, but is capable of it.

I saw Robin on TNN, was quite impressed by his style and ability.
I was wondering: are his guitars "standard" factory made, or custom
made? I've never seen a twin-neck acoustic like the one he used on
"Speed of Sound".
I checked the local Strawberries, and they hadn't heard of him or the
Electric Cinema album.

His albums previous to "Electric Cinema" were:
Windows to the World (1988) - instrumental
Creator (1986) - instrumental
Seven Seventy Seven (?) - vocal
Finish Line (?) - vocal
Legend of a Fool (1981) - vocal
Maybe Strawberries could order it since I supplied the label?
I'm not sure if his double-necks are custom or not.

I don't know if it was custom, but I did notice that the acoustic he
played had the Alvarez-Yari logo on both headstocks.

I recall seeing ads for an Alvarez 6/12 double neck acoustic years ago.
The only photo I have seen of Mr. Crow has him with a Steiunberger
M-series doubleneck.

He used the Steinberger doubleneck (two six strings) on one of the two
songs he did on Crook & Chase the other night, the Alvarez 6/12
doubleneck on the other tune. Had a huge array of stomp boxs in front
of him, but I couldn't identify any of them. The only sounds that
seemed predominantly used were a moderately long delay (1-2sec) and
a smooth distortion (on the non-acoustic number).
