You can buy an Ibanez 24 fret 'speed neck' for 150.00 from most mail
order places in the UK. Check out the ads in the magazines.

| Can you simply put a 24 fret neck on a guitar that doesn't currently have
such a neck? Won't doing this cause intonation problems due to scale
length?
I would figure that adding extra frets would make the neck a little bit
longer, which would hose up the scale length of the guitar. This assumes
that scale length is not just the actual fret placement, but is also related
to where the bridge is located on the guitar.
I wait to be corrected. ;^)

Shouldn't be a problem providing you get someone who knows what they're
doing to fit it and to set it up correctly.

| I WAS ACTUALLY THINKING OF DOING IT MYSELF!
I thought all i'd have to do is un-do the neck bracket and chuck the
new one in. I take it that the job is a bit more complicated than that!

Don't even *think* about attempting it yourself unless you are an

| All you have to do is insure that you maintain the proper scale length
between the nut and the bridge. To put a standard 24 fret neck on a
guitar with 21 or 22 frets would generally require that the neck joint
cavity be routed farther into the body to keep the scale length the
same (because the 24 fret neck will be a little longer).
I have seen some necks with fretboards that overlap the body a little
so that this isn't required. Don't remember if any of them had 24
frets though.

| I'm a little confused here...
Isn't the guitar in question a strat copy?
Aren't the pole pieces of a strat's neck pickup located at what
would be the 24th fret (for standard Fender scale length)?
I don't think the proposed modifications would work very well.
(I suppose you could get rid of the neck pickup, or re-route, but
it doesn't seem worth it).
