| | Guy plays often around town in a duo with clarinetist/vocalist Billy
Novick. Sometimes at weird places (saw them one Sunday asfternoon in a
a shopping mall!!). The most likely spot is Passim in Cambridge, where
they play a few times a year, after that one of the 2,369 coffehouses
    in the state 8^) 8^)

Wish I could be more specific. Listings in the Boston Globe Calendar
section on Thursdays and the Boston Phoenix on Fridays are the best
place to look for current appearances when you're in town.

He is indeed well worth seeing live. Watching him play Sousa marches
    is a real treat.

For those looking for recordings, he has some out on Rounder (both solo
    and duos with Billy).

| | I'm very familiar with Guy Van Duser.

I even am in the (longterm) process of learning his version of "Stars &
Stripes" which is a sorta signature piece of his (although he now
    plays it live only grudgingly).

I have no idea how you might find out when he plays next but he is
an outstanding unique guitar player and I rank the (many) concerts
of his that I've been to very highly among my concert going
    experiences.

You know that Guy has published tablature of "Stars and Stripes" in
a book called "Stride Guitar"? You still need twenty fingers to play
    it, though... ;-)

I think it's a Mel Bay book. Let me know if you need any more info on
it - I've got the book around here someplace.

| | Stan - I only got so far trying to figure it out on my own.

The notes are easy - the fingering is another story.

After I got the book, I saw that fingerings I had rejected as
impossible were exactly what he used (and possible with practice).

I looked in New England Folk Almanac which has a 2 1/2 month
Folk Calender and found 1 show on
		November 16th
Bill Novick,Guy Van Duser, Jeanne Stahl
		Old Library Coffeehouse
		30 School Street
		Milford, MA
		508-473-9802
The almanac is a new publication with Scott Alarik as editor.
He does the folk music articles for the Boston Globe. The
number for interested parties 617-661-4708. The calender is
a good feature though I'm sure there are some shows that come
	up with less notice.
