| SLEEPWALK was originally recorded by Santo and Johnny in the early
60's with the lead played on steel guitar. The music might be
available as such.
And yes, I agree, it is one beautiful piece for guitar. I was about 8
years old when I heard it and it completely blew me away.

| My band does the Larry Carlton version (which I like a LOT better than
the orginal - much more interesting chords). I sent William a chord
chart.
db - who wants to play Terry Trotter in the movie version of
"The Life and Times of Larry Carlton" (I'm assuming here
that I have no chance of getting the lead).

| I haven't heard the Larry Carlton version, but Jeff Beck did a stunningly
beautiful cover of this song, available on the Porky's Revenge soundtrack.

This is the third in the Porky's series of movies. (I don't know the names of
the other ones, I've never seen any of them). Dave Edmunds was hired to create
the soundtrack for Porky's Revenge. (Dont' ask me why!)
Dave assembled what I think is one of the finer soundtracks in rock history.
Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jerry Lee Lewis (w/Stray Cats), Jeff Beck, George
Harrison (which was his first release in like 10 years), Willie Nelson, all
sorta people are on this! Check it out if you can ever find it - its worth it
alone just to hear The Crawling King Snakes (Robert Plant, Phil Collins, and
Dave Edmunds) doing "Philadelphia Baby"! Awsome stuff!!!

Just for the record The Shadows did a rendition of Sleepwalk way back
when. Actually, I've never knowingly heard it. Due to the rave reviews
this 'tune' has received here maybe I ought to make the effort.

The latest Stray Cats album "Choo Choo Hot Fish", I think, has a
damn good version of SLEEPWALK.
Personally I think the Santo and Johnny version is the best I've heard.
No matter how much I like The Shadows I must say that their version
lacks something, I can say this about most of their covers. Their early
original work is far superior.
For the Americans (most of you) The Shadows are similiar to The
Ventures but better and still around, just.
