I'm interested in buying a Gibson ES347 but have been advised by
a local supplier the model has been discontinued and only local
supplies remain. The units are hard to get and as a result, the price
is is now at a premium, I am considering buying in the U.S. if the
the cost is more managable.
The unit I am looking for is the ES347 black body with plush case.
I would like to get a U.S. discount price and a location where a
new, undemo'd unit is located. If someone in the New England area
could make a few inquiries to some of the major distributors and pass along
the info, ie; telephone, location and cost, I would be very
appreciative of your efforts.
Thanks in advance for your help.......

Call Paul Schein @ Washington Music Center @ 301-946-8808. He has one
in stock in black for $1130 shipped in the US. Mention my name and he
won't hang up on you (Disclaimer, I get nothing but brownie points for
this).
Although the 347 has been dropped from the price list, that doesn't
mean Gibson won't make them in the future. In the meantime, the B.B.
King Lucille model is cheaper ($1080), comes in black, has fancier
binding, but no f-holes or coil-cut switch (has varitone instead). I
prefer the B.B. myself, but I wish Gibson would bring back the 355.

My husband bought an ES347 this past spring from a company in Atlanta, Georgia called Rhythm City (phone (404) 237-9552). They claim they sell equipment $100 over invoice. The sales person told us they do an enormous mail order business. I don't recall the exact price he paid for his Gibson - but it was alot better than any price he could find up here (New England). I also don't know what Rhythm City currently has in stock - but it may be worth a phone call. Cathie (who's answering for Mike - who's training in Bedford.) | |||||
