2241.0. "LYNYRD SKYNYRD 1991" by RTOIC::ACROY (OU812?) Mon Jun 24 1991 04:56

    Hi,

who has listened to the new Skynyrd CD? I couldn't wait to find it and
last Friday I got one - american records always need a couple of weeks
    to make it to Germany.

...beeing a big, big fan the last 15 years I collected all of their
records in the past - more than that, some of those records I bought
twice since they were really worn out after a couple of years. Last not
least Skynyrd made me start to play guitar and I still like to play
    along "Swamp Music".

So my expectations were really high and I couldn't wait to get home and
listen to it! And now I'm not really sure if I should be disappointed
with it or like it: on one hand I must say *this* is not Skynyrd
anymore - not one song has the orignality of the original band,
although I like "Money Man". Somehow I feel this record could be
from 38Special aswell. The other thing I noticed is that these guys
seem to be stuck in their glorious past - lyrics like "that freebird
keeps on flying and never will come down" are very typical for the
    whole record.

What do you think? And who has more information about Skynyrd? Do they
plan a tour? To Europe maybe? I know that they play in NYC, Aug.8th -
but that is a bit too far for a concert...
