    Wanted: Musicians ;^)

Two budding songwriters are looking to form a band to perform
    original music. We are:

Alan Starr - Vocals & Guitar
    Tom Gallo - Guitar/Bass/Vocals

He writes mostly words and I write the music.

The songs range from pringsteen-eqse to Pop Metal. If you
heard the Guitarnotes II tape, you three of our songs.

We're looking for the following musicians:

    	1. Verstatile bassist

    		- I'll be playing mostly rhythm guitar in this band, but would
like to play some bass as well. If you can play guitar
and bass or keys and bass it would be *ideal*.

    	2. "Lead" guitarist

    		- Neither Alan or I have "lead" chops. We need someone who
    	          has some verstatility of style.

    	3. Drummer

    	4. Keyboards

    		- Again if you can do keys/bass it would be great.

As always, vocals are a plus. Alan will do the "lead" vocals, but
we'd like to add strong harmony vocals to our songs.

We have a rehearsal space, in Hillsboro NH, which is quite a drive,
so if you have one in the So. NH, or in Mass, it would be great!

Lastly, this is not a "serious" band. We're not looking to make it
big, just get a few gigs and have a good time and maybe record.

If your interested, send me mail at: guru::tomg

5.2Alt_Bass_playr_available.AKOV05::DERRICOStand and deliver!Fri May 10 1991 12:4168
I would like to get into a band, or start a band that is
Alternative oriented. I would like to be playing out at the clubs
again and having fun - In between all the work...

I am looking for something I can be challenged at. It would be
All original music, with the exception of re-writing/arranging music.
I have experience playing in the clubs; Channel, Rat, Etc... and also
    have studio recording experience.

My roots have been in rock (sort of by default), and R&B - but not
limited to that. I'm constantly learning new things to enhance my ability.

My style is pretty variable at the moment. Most of the bands
that I have played in have been Rock, R&B Rock, & slightly Alternative
rock. My playing includes Picking, Finger style, Slap/Popping, and a
small amount of Tapping. At the moment, my strongest points are Finger-
    style and Picking.

My listening is kind of broad. I'm usually tuned into the 'FNX/BRU
stations. Or listing to some Jazz/Fusion, or something by the Hoodoo -
Guru's, or The Oyster band, or what ever. I tend to do alot of station
    changing.

The music that I do has been described as Avant garde, Alternative,
Rock, Funk - Not really specific sounding... Probably related to my
    choice in listening.

*** As a side note: At this year's DECJam '91, I will be playing in a
a band called "The Earth Movers". It's an -All Bass- band
including drums. It should be quite the blast!

   My Equipment:

I am currently using two basses: Washburn XS-4 - Mostly used for
it's brightness, clarity, and good low end. Also - a modified G&L bass -
Used for hammering, and kind of Fender sound.

For amplification I am using and SWR SM-400 amp with an SWR Goliath
   4x10 cab. It's cool...It can hold it's weight.

           Other Equipment:

                Rickenbacker 4001 bass - Modified
                Dean Baby-Z guitar
Other Non collectable cheap guitars and basses for fun.
                Traynor 40-watt practice amp.
                Tascam 246 four-track.
                Rocktron 360 stereo compressor.
                Junk.

        I live in the Maynard area, but I will travel to Worcester or Boston;
and might travel to southern New Hampster

Anyway... If there is something happening here, give me a buzz.

I can be reached at the following:

Band Member Needed!

SEE NO EVIL is losing its rhythm guitarist/saxophonist (amicable split -
he's moving to Florida). We're seeking a replacement member, either a
keyboardist, guitarist, or saxophonist. The ideal candidate would be able
to fulfill two (or even all three!) of those roles, but we're more than
willing to talk to anyone who might be interested.

SEE NO EVIL is a rock cover band, playing a variety of music from the 50s
through today, centering on upbeat, danceable rock songs. We're currently
gigging 1-2 weekends a month (with plans to boost that to 2-3 weekends a
month), both nightclubs and a variety of functions. (Our next booked gig
is for Thanksgiving weekend, and the new member must be found by then.)

We are based in the Haverhill (MA)/Salem (NH) area. Rehearsals (once the
new member is caught up) are once a week for 2-3 hours. We have rehearsal
space and PA. Vocals are a plus, but not required. Professionalism is
required, but we're also an easygoing bunch, and its fun for all of us.

For more informations, drop me some mail or give me a call:

There's that "Serious" word again. :)

Anyway, I don't know of any singers around here -
I'd recommend hanging out at The Gardens and trolling
for singers...

Also, stick an add up in ProSound and Rice music.

Also, go over to the sleazoid club under/in The Marriot... There is
a dood in there who DJ's named "Jake", and he's got an AWESOME
voice (ala Geoff Tate) - *AND* "the look". Tell him I sent ya...

    Guitar-noters..help!

Our drummer recently resigned, citing "new priorities" as his
reason, and I say that "priority" is a real funny word for that
big iron ball chained to his ankle...

Can anyone recommend a drummer that is tight, tasty, and willing
to commute to southern NH once a week for rehearsal? I put an
ad in DRUMS but the answers have not been forthcoming.

The band's sound is decidedly more pop/rock, so while we'd certainly
be impressed with Neil Peart sound-alikes, we need more of a
Steve Gadd meets Stewart Copeland meets Liberty Devito meets
    Mick Fleetwood style of player.

		**DRUMMER NEEDED FOR BAND**

We are currently scheduling auditions for a creative, powerful
responsible drummer!! We are more interested in your ATTITUDE
than your Neal Peart or Alan White Style!!

The band is an ALL original, established, high-energy F.M.
rock act that has airplay and gigs!! We are very serious
indiviuals who treat the band as a business FIRST and
relationship second! Meaning we have an ACTION plan versus
just becoming another rock band from New England!

We are currently in the studio and hope to release to the
A&R folks, promoters, radio stations a C.D. by mid May!

We have a C.D. quality demo cassette that is being aired on
several college and rock radio staions thru out New England.

The band has been together for almost 2 years, in which time
we've replaced the drummers twice for lack of understanding
what it really takes and others for personal problems that they
could not resolve thus they were asked to leave!

What we are looking for is a drummer [preferably with vocal ability]
to learn the demo tape verbatim, THEN sit down with us and once given
a basic melodic structure to the tune CAN dish-out some melodic
chops that are solid, creative, and powerful!!
We're not insisting on a Neal P type of indiviual -BUT rather your
attitude towards the band and the MUSIC is much more IMPORTANT!!

We're not a heavy metal type act--we're more the type act that
you would definitely hear on WAAF and the like. We're not thrash or
grunge rock, we're mainstream rock/hardrock that has hooks/melodies
in order to be marketable and distributable !!

I write/arrange/produce etc... all the material and if I had to choose
groups/artists that influence me--I'd have to say RUSH, TRIUMPH,
DEEP PURPLE/RAINBOW, SCORPIONS, BOSTON, KANSAS, YES, and the newer
acts such as FIREHOUSE, WARRANT, TESLA, etc...

	SO ther you have it!

UNLESS YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT DRUMMING FOR A BAND THAT IS DEFINETLY
GOING TO GET SIGNED AND YOU HAVE GOOD CHOPS/TIMING

DO NOT WASTE MY TIME OR YOURS!

We rehearse in Hudson N.H. and I commute to Marlboro Ma. every day
so if you're serious enough about what you want to do as a drummer
and you're not going to let things like the [COMMUTE to practice]
	bother your decision to succeed

A friend of mine's band is looking for a Bassist...Needed ASAP!!!

They are a 5 piece band...Drums, (Bass), Guitar, Keys, and Lead Vocals.
Backing vocals are nice, but not nec. They play AOR rock in the vein of
Bon Jovi, Steelheart, Beau Nasty, Firehouse, etc., with heavy emphasis on
    vocals and catchy hooks!

This act is all original in format, and are currently scheduled with
upcoming gigs, including Axis and Great Woods. They need someone who
is devoted, responsible (has transportation, etc.), and interested in
playing original music on the Worcester/Boston club circuit and beyond!
This band is shopping for a label deal (like everyone), and has goals
    of Making It Big.

Contact me if you're interested...I'll pass on the info and get you
    connected.

5.37Guitarist/Bassist Seeking Musicians - ColoradoSSDEVO::LAMBERTTue Jun 30 1992 12:2023
Experienced guitar/bassist seeking band or other musicians who desire to
form a band in the Colorado Springs area. I play both bass and guitar
(electric and acoustic), have equipment for both needs, and have been
playing about 18 years. I've most recently played in the blues and R&B
style, but pride myself on the diversity of styles I can cover. I'd be
willing to play anything from rock to jazz to blues to country. I can
sing well enough for backup vocals, including harmonies, but not quite
well enough to be the front man. Am willing to get into a "playing out"
situation or simply a hobby band, depending on the overall feeling of the
   other members.

In addition to the "normal" equipment I also have a small (400w) PA, mics,
at this time a couple of extra amps (they'll be for sale soon though), a
pickup truck to haul everything in, and a lot of enthusiasm. I also have
enough space at my house in Woodland Park to support "limited" practices
(eg, I've got neighbors, so "not TOO loud"). If you'd like to get
together for either a band tryout or a jam please get in touch. I can be
reached at ZYMRGY::sam or SSDEVO::LAMBERT, (dtn) 522-3754 (prefer mail),
or evenings at (719) 687-1920 after 6pm MST - remember, I'm in Colorado.

Hoping to hear from y'all soon,

			KEYBOARDIST WANTED!!!
			---------------------

See No Evil, a working cover band based out of Salem, NH, is seeking to add
a keyboardist to their current lineup (singer, 2 guitars, bass, drum). We
play a variety of music from the 50's-90's, centering on what we like to
call "dance-oriented rock". Bands we cover include Black Crowes, Eric Clapton,
Stevie Ray Vaughn, Allman Brothers, REM, U2, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Eddie
Money, Romantics, Robert Palmer, etc. etc.

The band keeps fairly busy, playing up to 10-12 shows a month (although we
prefer a little less, and try to keep at least one weekend a month open).
Gigs are mostly in the MA/NH border area, but we occasionally travel a little
further out (ie. Hampton/Salisbury Beach and Gloucester in the summer, North
Conway in the winter). Gigs are mostly on weekends, but also some Thursday
and Sunday nights. We have bookings as far ahead as Thanksgiving at this point.
We work with some agents, but do the majority of it ourselves.

Practices tend to be once a week, just to learn new songs. These are in
Salem, NH. However, we may be willing to move it to your place, if you
desire and have the space.

We have a small PA that is adequate for now, although it will need to be
upgraded sometime in the near future.

The band is run as a democracy, everything from song choice to gig selection.
There's no "leader", and whomever joins will come in as an equal, not as a
"junior partner"!

We are a bar band, not a GB band, and this isn't a band to get rich from.
But at the same time, we make ok money, and its getting better all the time.
But keep in mind that we do this for FUN, not as a business!

We're looking for someone who has a fairly professional attitude, while not
going overboard (we try to get things right, but we're not perfectionists).
Chops are required of course, but you don't necessarily have to be Keith
Emerson - willingness to work, personality, the right attitude, and common
goals will go a lot further with us than just being an *awesome* player.

Vocal ability is almost a MUST. Truth be told, we are a bit weak in this
area with our current members, and any new member added will be required
to sing background harmonies.

Previous band experience is a big plus, but not required.

For more info, please don't hesitate to contact me:

I just spoke to a fellow I met a few weeks ago at a jam, and he tells
me his band is looking for a bass player. I told him I'd be interested
    in subbing but not as a regular. He's a C&W picker, 30 something. I
never heard his band but I saw him play at the blues jam. He only
played chords, but he used some pretty advanced chords leading me to
believe the guy is probably pretty good.

So if any of youse guys are interested, he's Mike LaBreque of Concord

How do you Talk to an Angel? NOT!
---------------------------------

Hey Kiddies! Have you seen the new Fox TV hit "The Heights"? Well we have a
band going just like that one. Except we aren't good looking. And we don't lip
sync. And there are only 2 of us. And there's no sexual tension in the band.
And we don't live in the city. And we're not 22. And we play alternative music
instead of pablum.

Actually, we are an acoustic guitarist and female vocalist who are looking for
a percussionist and/or another acoustic guitarist (backing vocals and song
writing are pluses) for acoustic alternative band.

Our influences include REM, Violent Femmes, Cure, Talking Heads. We also play
originals and have practice space in Pepperell MA.

Practice is 2/3 times weekly in So. NH. (Hudson). We are looking

BASSIST WANTED
------- ------

Guitar player and drummer based in the Colorado Springs area putting
together an alternative band and need a bass player to get things
rolling. The basic musical style would include songs by The
Godfathers, The Smithereens, Devo, The Lemonheads, Midnight Oil, The
Replacements, etc. We will also be mixing original material in with
the covers.

We're prepared to play as a three piece, even though we'd eventually
like to add either a keyboard player or another guitarist, so our
immediate need is a bass player. Every ad looking for musicians says
this, so I'll restate the obvious...vocals are a plus.

We're hoping to be ready to start playing out in clubs sometime this
summer. We currently rehearse once a week, but expect that to
increase somewhat as our repertoire builds and we get closer to being
ready to gig.

This is a fun project for both of us and we're not planning on
depending on it as a source of income. This way we can play whatever
we want to and enjoy ourselves doing it. We're playing music because
we love doing it and don't take ourselves too seriously.

If you're a bass player who has a similar attitude and interest, or
know someone who does, please contact me, Greg House, at GOES11::G_HOUSE
or DTN 522-2861 during the day.

We practice in Nashua, and play southern New Hampshire, Northeastern Mass.

Looking for a Sloid base player, Vocal would be a plus but not necessary.

Thanks for saying that...you're very kind!
My schedule has been sooo hectic with the band (and work and life
and an ongoing tuesday night commitment...) that it's pretty hard for
me to get up to Nashua's "Blind Willies Pub jam"...but I'm really glad
I made it there...I had a ball! DEC has SO MANY GREAT PLAYERS! If I get

within a night will absolutely blow your mind...

But we don't want "just a BASS player"...We hope to welcome a NEW
creative force into THE CHARLIE DEE BLUES BAND!
In addition to our heavy gigging schedule, we have been getting lots of
exposure (Press, Radio and TV) and are SERIOUS about our music.
We have gigs scheduled for almost every weekend through the end of the
year (including another show with Luther "Guitar Jr" Johnson on Oct 11th!)
and then we're planning on going to the studio to record/release our first
CD! (We now have financial backing...)

If you are a Bass player who:
    IS into BLUES music...
HAS a desire to be Funky...
WANTS to join a winning team with a working band....
    			AND

5.100Need volunteer to run sound for charity concert, NashuaDOCTP::SULLIVANSinging for our lives.Fri Sep 24 1993 16:4928

I'm looking for a volunteer or two to run sound for a folk concert
at the Nashua YW/YMCA on Friday, October 22. I'll be performing
(voice and acoustic guitar) for about an hour, and there'll be some
speakers. The event is to benefit NOW and the YWCA, with a special
emphasis on providing financial support for a group of battered
women who are in jail for killing their abusive mates.

I have equipment (mics, amps, mixer, speakers), but if you could bring
some or all, that would be wonderful. (Does anyone else find themselves
too pooped to play after lugging in and setting up equipment?)
Some experience running sound would be grand, but I'd say support
for the cause and general enthusiasm would make up for lack of experience.

If you're interested in helping out with this, let me know. The
concert/Event will run from about 8 to 10, so set up would start
around 6:00. It's going to be in a gym, so I'm a little worried about
feedback, but I figure I can go without monitors or maybe send only my
guitar pickup to the monitor (not the mic, since it's usually the guitar
mic that causes feedback if anything does.)

I'm not getting paid for this gig, so I really can't pay you, but maybe
we can work something out (like I could run sound for you sometime or
do some recording for you. If I get 2 sound volunteers, I'd like to
    record this gig) Let's talk.

Looking for a guitarist with solid (sloid?) C & W experience, strong
vocals a definite plus. The lead singer/bass player has released a CD
and some cassettes, does current and older stuff, plus some originals.

The group consists of bass, piano, drums, and guitar. Some steel would
be acceptable, but main focus is guitar. The band plays clubs and
functions on an average of 1 - 3 nites a week.

I'm looking for someone to play acoustic guitar with on an informal
basis. Someone who sings too would be great (since I can't sing a note).
I like playing songs from the Beatles, Tom Petty, REM, Cat Stevens,
Bob Marley, Boston, Violent Femmes, and many others. I've learned most
of what I play from listening to and playing along to CDs.

I'm mainly interested in getting technically better at playing,
and learning new songs. Currently, I have both a 12-string acoustic
and a 6-string acoustic/electric.

I'm 31 years old and I live in the Nashua NH area.

	Keyboard Player Wanted
	----------------------

Our band is looking for a new keyboard player. Vocal ability is
a plus but not require. We do a mix of classic rock, blues and R&B.
We normally practice one night per week, and we're looking to
gig one or two times per month. We have a PA for vocals and practice
space at my house in Marlboro (no rent).

Our current line-up is:

	Rhythm Guitar/Vocalist
	Lead Guitar/Vocalist
	Bass
	Drums

We are all involved in this musical project more for enjoyment
than money, and we are not trying to 'make it' as pro musicians,
but we are also committed to putting in the effort to develop a
very good, tight sound.

If you are interested or know of some one who may be interested
please, I will give you more details about the band. You should
have your own equipment and transportation.

Looking for a bass player for that world tour you've scheduled?
Ever wonder what you'd sound like with a bass backup?
Did your present bassist get lost on the way to the men's room?

    Give me a call!

I'm always looking for people to play with. I've played rock, folk,
country, cocktail jazz and several styles I can't describe. In other
words, I'm flexible. I mostly play electric, but could dust off my
double bass in a pinch. I live in Salem, NH, USA, and have equipment,
wheels, a small PA and a good attitude.

Or put me on your band's mailing list (North American bands only,
please). I may come to one of your gigs.

Or, just tuck my name away for future reference. You never know when

Looking for a guitarist or bassist to reform our band that just lost
the drummer (that sounds weird, but I have some possibilities there
already). We may lose the guitarist, for he may not be able to commit to
a rental agreement 8^(. After having said that, one of our goals is to
have the band pay for itself by working. Vocals are not mandatory, but
if you have a decent voice nobody's going to hold you back!

We are 98% original and are working to be a semi-alternative band (in
a melodic sense, not that slamming/noisey type stuff). We have just
finished six songs at a 16-track studio in Providence RI, and plan to
target that area initially for gigs and record there again. We are
prone to playing anywhere/everywhere we can.

The basic arrangement would be 3 or 4 piece with our singer playing
some keys here and there (he plays a Roland Axis, that guitar-shaped
thing that has weird black&white levers on it %^). The best location for
rehearsals is central MA, say Worcester, as we live south and west of
this city. This is a workable issue tho.

I'm leaving out style on purpose, for I'm not sure how to classify the
latest stuff. But, whoever we hook up with will make it different anyway.
Basically, we have some ideas and the group makes it happen. Our goals
are to have FUN and be focused, playing consistently even when a fellow
band-mate body-slams you because you were staring at the ceiling for too
long (we like to mix it up a bit and keep it moving %^).

I'll be off the Digital network next week, please use my home number
below after October 1st. Feel free to pass this on to anyone who might
be interested (musically, that is, no more food-service references %^).

Whiskey Dix, a four piece alternative band is looking for a rhythm
guitar to fill out our sound. We play all originals with some obscure
covers thrown in for good measure. The band has been together for
about two years (gigging for about 1 year) and have just recently added
a lead singer. We have rehearsal and studio space in Groton. We usually
practice once a week and play out (Causeway, MiddleEast, Rat, TTs etc...)
    once a month or so.

While we are serious about the music our main intent is to have fun and
drink a few beers. We have no delusionns of grandeur and egos are
    pretty much kept in check.

We have a longer term goal to put together three or four FNX type cover
sets to enable us to play parties and some dance clubs.

For a 60's R&R band. A guy came up to me at a gig last
week and said his band just lost their guitar player
and were looking for a replacement. They do the retro
thing (wonder why he was asking ME?? ;^) ). Anyway,
this band plays the north shore area and some southern
NH. I have no other idea what they're all about, but I
said I could spread the word a little.

Interested parties should contact Dave Vose, 508.685.3790.
This fella gave me his business card, which shows that he
works for Yamaha as an "Artist/Clinician" for percussion
instruments in the Band & Orchestral Division. Name rings
a bell, now that I look at it.

I'm the banjo player for the southern New Hampshire based band, Granite Grass.
Our guitar player has accepted an overseas assignment, so his commute to
practice and gigs he figured was prohibitive (no dedication!). So, we're in
the market for a BG guitarist; strong bluegrass rhythm and vocals a must,
flat-picking highly desirable. We practice once a week at ZKO.

If interested (or know anyone who might be) contact me at:
[email protected]

Keep pickin, George

BTW - Since it can't hurt to ask, we'd love to find a good fiddler, too!

	Versatile Keyboard player wanted
	================================
Startup Rock band consisting of 2 guitars, bass, and drums seeking
keyboard player to complete the lineup.

This is to be a fun band playing tunes we want to play that will
also let the audience have a great time! Just about any type of
music is up for grabs as long it's fun to play and party to. The
age range is on the youthful side of the 40's so feel free to
assume what types of music we're not into.

We're looking to be groove oriented band with a lot of dynamics
and interplay. We listen to and play off each other so you
should be the type who will let a 4 minute song go 10 minutes
	if that's what feels right.

Strict covers will be rare. Anything past the signature riff
is open game. Over time, "our style" will come out.

You should be all set in the equipment department and it would
be a major plus if you also sing. Practices (Chelmsford) have
been once a week and we'd like to be gig ready by Memorial Day.
We'd like to play out one or two weekends a month.

There are lots of laughs when we get together and that's the
attitude we'd like to take to the stage.

So, if you're that person - reply to me at Piet::DesRochers.
If you know someone, feel free to forward this on or let me
know how to get in touch. We want to find someone now!!

	Thanks - Tom
