Hmmm... I believe Barrington guitars are made here in Northern
Illinois. While looking for archtops in the area about 1 1/2
years ago, a local store had a Barrington archtop for about $1400.
I never went to see it, but the store owner told me that they
are made in Barrington, Illinois (about 50 miles from Chicago)
and that it was a very nice archtop.

That's all I know.... Except that I'm suprised it is less than
the Gibson. Why not try to find the company and call them for
a brochure. 708-555-1212 would get you the local information.

I tried a Barrington fretless bass out recently (unamplified). It was
nice but had some weird idiosyncracies, like tuning machines spaced too
close together, making it tough to tune the thing up. Workmanship
seemed good overall, nice finishing job, etc.

Only time will tell if they will hold their value...

I think they've been around for at least three years already.

I first saw an add for them in an old GFTPM. Unfortunately, I don't
have it with me, so I can't give an exact date.
