    Man, am I ever on a building kick.....
    
    I want to try building a tube, bass preamp. Nothing fancy at all.
    
    I want to try and warm up, and sweeten the sound of my Sunn amp by
    bypassing the solid state preamp.
    
    Does anyone out there have a schematic of some good but simple 
    brand name preamp that they would share with me?

	I've got a Marshall JCM 800 Series model 1986 50W Bass Amp circuit diagram. The preamp section looks simple enough...though it has 6 controls...two 12AX7s look like they'd do the job! The output of this circuit will be high impedance however, so you'll have to know the input impedance of that Sunn transistor circuit - at the point where you'll be going into it. My immediate guess is that it wont be on the order of 1 meg ohm, which is the loading this circuit would need to operate correctly. Make that three 12AX7s...Send me mail if you'd like a copy... Joe

	I could send ya a copy of the prints for the SWR readhead which has a tube front end, also I got a circuit from "electronic Musician" a few months ago...don't expect too much of a sweetnesgain though...I have an SWR SM400 and its still not as sweet as my Ampeg B-1, which is all tube.
