Directions from I495:
Take exit 31 off 495 (Littleton) on to route 119.
Take 119 toward Littleton center.
Approx. 1/10 mile, 119 will intersect route 110.

Sorry, ya can't make it, dude. Sounds like this could prove to be

It's like this. I'm not sure what everyone has in mind, but I just
happened to know of a place where we can pretty much get loud as we
want and it's spacious enough, and it's not a residential area. We
could all chip in to get a case of beer and ice to throw into the
icebox. And it just happens that our band is not practicing next
Monday night...
How does this grab ya'll?

I'd kind of thought that getting together for dinner or libations might
be more in line with what people were thinking. Anyone care to clue me
in as to what *they* were thinking? For myself, whatever we do, it
needs to be early in the week. Thursday and Friday are completely out
and Wednesday would probably be inconvenient.

For a while they used 6550s, but switched *back* to EL34's.
6550's are pretty harsh. $400 seems like the standard

make it. Is there anybody else? Buck? Greeve Boy? (I know, Augusta ain't jus
down the street). Let hear it guys, I'd love to have you all over, bullshittin
and drinking are about my favorite things to do. Factor in Guitar playing and
it just don't get any better. Don't be shy cause we never met. So, either post
an entry or send me mail. Even if you can't make it I'd like to hear from you.

As I said in Mail to sakman, I'd certainly like to get together at his

afternoon. Are you guys (Bill Salkewicz, Alan Starr, and Greg House)
coming for sure?
If I can make it, I'll bring my Marshall JCM900 along.

No, I don't think its "sure" yet. I know Greg has some tentative plans for
something else, although he said he would change them if there was a real
get-together. For myself, I can make it, but I also have other things to do
also, so either way if ok with me.
If people can't make it this week (and it seems a lot of people are on
vacation this week), maybe next week would be better???

Note 429.0 Is it time for a DECjam? No replies
DREGS::BLICKSTEIN "My other PC is a Mac" 26 lines 21-MAY-1993 09:53
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With all the depressing things that have gone on recently, I wonder
if it's not time to do something to compensate.
I'd like to see if interest can be revived in the old "DECjams".
We haven't had one in years, so for the benfit of those not familiar
with DECjams, it's a structured jam featuring several bands of (mostly)
DEC employees. Each band does one set (about 30 minutes) of material.
Basically, you rent a place, rent a PA (or use one of the bands) and
just do it. These were GREAT fun in the past, both for the
non-players in the audience, and the musicians actually playing.
What's more is that it's a chance to associate more than just a
node-name and and account name to a fellow noter, but a face and
actual music.
We started doing these in 1987 and there was generally one a year
up until about 91 or so.
The first priority after determining that there's interest, both in
terms of being enough bands and enough people interested in attending,
is to find a person who is willing and able to basically put it
together (and I am NOT volunteering at this time for that).
Respond here. I really hope this gets rolling.

Hey db - didn't you see Miguel's note about a month ago
asking the same thing? With no replies, it was easy for
him to just delete the topic.
It was strange how these jams changed over the years. At the
beginning, Rik Sawyer pretty much "fixed people up" by picking
different musicians from the same area. (who else would have
put Pete Cook and me together ;^) The end result was a one time
jam band. I wonder how many working bands came out of meeting
folks at these DECjams?
Then, it became more of a showcase for alot of the _real_ bands
that came out of the jams. Unfortunately, the audience size
dropped dramatically from those first few. And, supposedly,
even the musicians didn't stick around after their set was over!!
The level of excitement and enthusiasm from that 1st WinterJam
at the Rod and Gun Club in Maynard and even the next few was
really Great!! But for some reason, the interest went downhill
big-time.
It certainly would be much easier to have several of Digitals
working bands get together for a showcase than it would for folks
to get in touch, pick out 30 minutes of songs, practice a few
times, and go on stage. But that was the original intent of
the jams, wasn't it?
Hmmm... maybe I've answered my own question by writing this.
We've all progressed to playing out in a working situation and,
plain and simple, "the thrill is gone".
That said, anyone need a guitar player? ;^)

18.126 | The right "attitude" about DECjams | DREGS::BLICKSTEIN | My other PC is a Mac | Mon May 24 1993 09:14 | 34 |
| Well Tom, it's really what you make of it.
I really never understood why anyone would take their regular band to
a DECjam and play their usual stuff.
IMO the unique value of DECjams is:
a) To play in a band with new folks
b) To play material you couldn't get away with at your
usual gigs (originals, tributes, odd stuff etc.). At a DECjam you
can play anything you want.
BTW Tom, one of my personal dreams for a DECjam band is to
play keys in a Larry Carlton tribute band with TomD on guitar
(only if you play the 335 thru the Boogie though!) ;-)
I don't want to "force" any policy on anyone, but I think it would be
very cool to do something like what Rik did and have a "pool" of
"free agents" ("free" with respect to the jam that is - you can have
a full-time regular band) and put people together and assuming that
both my bands don't decide to play this, I'd probably put my own
name in.
Anyway, if you're in a regular band don't view a DECjam as "yet another
gig that doesn't pay anything so who needs it?".
View it as an opportunity to play with some new folks, doing some
material you'd really like to do and get to see fellow noters doing
the same.
I mean, if this thing turns out to be nothing more than a "showcase of
DEC bands" - heck, *** I'd *** probably even skip it. I've already
seen most of your bands. I want to see something "different".

18.127 | ruminations | SPECXN::LEITZ | Peggin' the Fun Meter | Tue May 25 1993 17:24 | 36 |
| Having been there with Rik at Horsefeathers when we were gang-banging the idea
over suds & spuds for the first WinterJam planning, I recall the idea was
take the names of everybody who wrote in, pull a bass player out of a hat,
a drummer out of a different hat, a guitar player out of a hat, etc. There
were a coupla "bands" that formed as friends who had never played together
for a one night stand (like the "Dave Clark 4" grunge band I was in then)...
also at least one working band (even then): Rick Levine & co (the Tripods)...
I never played in a DECjam with the same people twice (except when I got
with Brian in "Cantus Firmus" and the "Earth Movers"). Out of playing in
5 decjams, I think that's an ok average.
But, man, there -were- some people I -hoped- would "return" from the first
DECjam as a band, like the Ron/Bill/Terri/Dave-o/Todd show.
Ah well, it's whatever you want it to be. I had great times doing those things.
I know alot of people kept going together after just initially planning a
one-time band.
As long as it's managed well & you have a good place for it & as long as some
super group doesn't roll through town the night you plan on holding the jam,
it can't go wrong. (I say this 'cause I remember one not being managed too
well & people left because it ran too long before one certain punk-wave drummer
and band even started...and he vented over it, rightly so).
I'm still looking to get one rolling here in the springs...talked to a few
people about it... there's some real awesome musicians here. maybe we can
trade videos when all is said & done for a quasi bi-regional time/tape-delayed
mega decjam... watch each others videos the same night in some rented back
rooms of our respective local watering holes & phone-in our hoots & hollers at
each other! Gee, too bad we couldn't do a video-phone-con-jam!!! Yaow!
:-)
ps, Bring back the Earth Movers!

| Does anybody know of an R&B harp player who'd be interested in adding a
track to an original tune? It's a straight up piece in D which has all
other tracks recorded already. The goal here is to send this original
to some publishing companies. The problem is that my partner and I were
told by 2 different harp players that they'd love to help out but now
neither can be found. So, of course there's a nice empty spot in the
middle of the song! We could try adding a non-guitar piece but really
think that a harp would sound great.
We could either move a 4 track recorder to wherever or if interested a
harp player could come to either Acton or Dracut to record.
Please contact me via E-Mail if interested at CSCMA::GREEN.

it's been a long time since anyone tried to get some reasonable
quorum of GUITAR noters together. I know everyone is older than
they used to be with more stuff to do and it ain't as easy as it
was some years ago. But I thought it might be fun to try and get
some people together to compare set-ups, tones, etc. (I know that
right now I'm pretty happy with the tone I'm getting out of my
rig!). Not something as organized as a DECjam, but maybe a little
more organized than that VolumeJam thing we did one intensely cold
night over at the Northboro Fish and Game. Maybe try to have some
set-up where a couple guitar players could play together with a
bass player and a drummer; people could play for 20 minutes or so
then let somebody else take a turn.
Does this sound do-able/interesting?

| re .- a few:
The F&G is NOT a studio!!! It's a Fish and Game club/sort of bar.
I'll put on my 'concensus-builder' hat now ...
A little while ago Tom D and I were thinking about hooking up to
do a little jamming/checking out sounds/etc. I thought it would
be fun to get a number of people together. I'd like to hear what
kind of stuff everybody's playing and how different amps/etc stack
up against each other. It's a lot easier to hear things than read
about them in notes :-)
I wouldn't object to having a PA/drummer/bass player so we could
do songs instead of the proverbial 'playing Eruption in the music
store' thing. My only concern is that things would get too loud
(remember VolumeJam?). A little planning and condideration would
make a big difference.
Here's what I see are the things we need to have worked out:
1. PA - does someone have one they can bring? I don't think we'd
need to mic the drums or amps; just vocals.
2. Drummer - I MIGHT be able to a drummer; I'd have to let him know
well in advance. I can probably get a conga player/
percussionist if you feel like doing some Santana.
Anyone else have any ideas? The drummer, of course,
should be able to play everything from Neil Young
to T-Bone Walker to Dream Theater, for free :-)
3. Bass player - I assume some will show up with their stuff, right
Rick? :-)
4. Ground rules - we need to have, say, no more than 3 guitar players
plugged in at one time and have people play for
20-25 minutes then let somebody else up to play
for a while. Otherwise it will be white noise.
whaddaya think? Send me Email if you have any ideas and I'll roll
everything up.

I need plenty of advance notice... gotta find someone to watch the

Setting up a distribution list might not be a bad idea... this way
you could let ex-DECcies know about it (Dave Hickernell is the first to
come to my mind but there's plenty of other former noters w/E-Mail access).
I myself am really busy lately & I don't get to check into this conference

I'd say most of us are for a volume level that's reasonable but
doesn't approach VolumeJam. None of us are old farts yet. Heck,
for some of us, this is the only chance to crank it a bit!
Limiting the number of players on the stage will take care of

A distribution list to include some ex-guitar noters is a great idea.
I jammed with Dave Hickernell recently - he's doing great, and I bet
he'd be interested in a get together if his schedule permitted.
I'd be more interested in getting a tone-sampling of a lot of different
guitar & amp setups than doing a decjam type thing, but whatever format
the concensus arrives at is fine by me.

We should do it. I think Coop would be up to it. I don't even know
anyone else here.
Still, the Idea of "them" laying some basic grooves down on an ADAT
then sending one copy here and them laying down stuff on the other...
It would be fun to hear what each geographical area would come up with
as the riff/melody/lyrics for the same Drums/Bass groove. It would
be interesting at the least.
Then theres: Blind Jam/Deaf Jam/... Why not just hand over our
multi-million watt rigs to people who until just recently only played
air guitar - and let them go for it? ;-) Call that dumb jam.
You gotta have a *little* discipline or it turns into a volume fest.
I like volume. Sometimes I crave it. But all in good taste.
Hey, what-am-I-saying? I won't even get a chance to make it to yours.
Do whatever... ;-) I'd be up to a Colorado toy-fest. Come
with your best guitar / bass toys - toss 'em in the middle of a room -
and mix/n/match. Find the best combinations/maybe even learn
something.

I'd be into doing some jamming, but not really into the gear comparison
stuff. I understand the concerns about volume since I was at VJ also,
and I certainly wouldn't want to relive that whole scenario. Lots of
different levels of playing capabilities here, and if you happen to
end up in the wrong group of players for your 20-25 minutes, it could be
really frustrating in terms of limiting what you play and the style of
music that you play. I'll probably end up skipping this one.

| As most of you are aware, I've been playing through a little Fender
Deluxe Reverb of late (22w - 12" speaker). This amp is surprisingly
loud for a small amp, but it obviously can't compete with a stack.
My feelings is that if this amp can't be heard at the F&G, someone
is too loud.
I guess I'm just getting old, but I have no desire to be in the
same room as a Marshall Stack on 11, never mind trying to jam
(ie: compete) with one.
I'm hoping we can keep this small. My idea would be to have a
Bass player and drummer (optional) and have 2 guitarists at a
time get up and play for like 15-20 minutes, then bring on the
next group. Perhaps it would be good to have people pair up ahead
of time and decide what tunes to jam on.
I'm still interested in doing an acoustic thang, or perhaps a
combination of acoustic/electric (where the electrics are kept
at *room* listening levels). If anyone is interested in something
along this line, I might be able to host this in my basement.
Keep in mind that the holidays are fast approaching. We should
either plan to do this before thanksgiving, or delay it until
after New Years.

1. Date: Either Sunday November 19 or Sunday November 26.
Maybe 4-8 PM or 4 to whenever. I would prefer the sunday
before thanksgiving (the 19th). If you'd rather watch
football, you're not a real musician anyways :-)
2. Place: Northboro Fish and Game club; if that's not
available or they refuse to let a bunch of guitar
players rent it out :-) I can probably get the 8
Point Sportsmen's club in Sterling
3. Set-up: Drummer, bass player(s) and PA for vocals.
Try and keep it to 2 guitar players on stage at a
time (I'm not the boss, just the organizer. Be fair.)
4. Tunes/who to play with: Send me email with the following
information and I'll compile the results and post them:
1. What kind of stuff you like to play i.e. classic rock,
progressive rock, blues, jazz standards, fusion, metal,
progressive funk-country-alternative, etc.
2. How, uh, adept are you at playing?
3. What kind of rig would you consider bringing? Does it have
any particular strengths that you'd like to show off?
4. Do you want to bring an acoustic that you can plug into the
PA?
WHAT WE NEED:
1. a drummer
2. a PA
3. 1 or more bass players
4. PEOPLE! (Ex-Deccies always welcome!)

I do not have a snake, so if anyone has a snake, bring it along. The PA

2 Soundtech Speaker cabs

| OK, here's the skinny ....
This jam will be Sunday November 19 at the 8 Point Sportsmen's
Club in Sterling MA. It starts at 4 and we can have the place till
10. The cost is $50 plus a $25 cleanup fee which is refundable if
we leave the place in the same condition as it was in when we came
in. Feel free to bring your own food/brews/etc. A bartender would
have been extra and I wanted to keep this simple. There's a couple
of decent pizza/sub joints about 2 miles away if we collectively feel
hungry at some point.
The more people show up, the less everyone has to pay. So far
about 8 people have said they'd like to come, so that would work
out to about 6 bucks apiece. Try to let me know ahead of time if
you're planning on coming so I can divide the cost up fairly.
DIRECTIONS TO THE 8 POINT SPORTSMEN'S CLUB IN STERLING:
1. Coming from the north, take the Rt. 12 exit off
of Rt. 190 and head south on Rt. 12 into the center of Sterling.
Rt. 62 merges with Rt. 12 for a short distance in the center
of town, then forks right up a hill just as you are leaving
the center of town. Take the right fork up the hill and you'll
be on 62 West. Stay on Rt. 62 for about 2 1/4 miles. (You'll
cross under Rt. 190). Look for Wilder Road on your right. Take
the right onto Wilder Road. (If you get to Rt. 140, turn around;
you've gone too far.) In about 1 mile you'll come to a 4-way
intersection. Turn left at this intersection. This is Beaman
Road. The 8 Point is about 3/4 mile down on the right. It's
a log-cabin type of building set back off the road with a long
driveway. I'm pretty sure there's a sign in front.
2. From The south, take Rt. 190 to the Rt. 140 exit (exit 5 for
Princeton/West Boylston). Go Left at the exit towards Princeton.
About 2 miles up is a flashing light where 140 and 62 intersect.
Take a right onto 62. About 3/4 miles up on your left is Wilder
Road. Take the left onto Wilder Road and follow the directions
above.

18.208 | ground rules | ASABET::DCLARK | could you, would you, with a goat? | Tue Nov 07 1995 08:58 | 17 |
| Since several people have sent me mail regarding some of the
ground rules for this jam, here they are (at least what I've
thought of so far):
1. Guests - if you want to bring a couple guests I suppose that's
OK; Just don't bring your whole band down to do a
couple sets. Non-musician guests are welcome. Members
of the Jolly Kopperschmidts german band are NOT
welcome (inside joke).
2. Rules - besides what we've discussed about volume, I ask that
you act responsibly and don't drive drunk or trash the
hall so nobody comes after me or the Sportsmen's club.
3. Pre-arranged jams - if you're making plans ahead of time to jam
with certain people let me know if you haven't already,
just to make sure everybody gets a fair shot.

type place.
I was wondering if we'll all be able to set up at the same
time and just plug in when we play. Hopefully, that'll be
the case and we won't get 20 minutes of crankin' and tuning
between playing.
Do we arrive at 4:00? If we time our arrival, we could pull
a mass unload / setup.
Looking forward to it,

DIRECTIONS TO THE 8 POINT SPORTSMEN'S CLUB IN STERLING:
Rt. 495
Exit 26 - Rt. 62 - head west
Several miles
Thru rt. 12 intersection
Cross under Rt. 190
Look for Wilder Road on your right
Take a right onto Wilder Road
(If you get to Rt. 140, you've gone too far.)
In about 1 mile you'll come to a 4-way intersection.
Turn left at this intersection. This is Beaman Road.
The 8 Point is about 3/4 mile down on the right.
It's a log-cabin type of building set back off the road with a long
driveway. I'm pretty sure there's a sign in front.

18.214 | 62's kind of a slow road thru Clinton | ASABET::DCLARK | could you, would you, with a goat? | Mon Nov 13 1995 12:29 | 12 |
| 62 works; it's kind of twisty and turny throught Clinton and
I usually take 140 to 290 if I'm going to Marlboro. But sunday
afternoon traffic will be light and may make it worth a try.
One other thing; about 3/4 mile after you cross under 190 on 62,
there's a road that cuts off to the right with an 8 Point sign
on it. This is actually Beaman road and if you take the right
you'll come to the 4-way intersection in a couple miles. In this
case you would go straight through the intersection and the 8
point would be about 3/4 miles down on the right.

18.225 | more notes from WoodsJam | RICKS::CALCAGNI | Fast, Cheap, Good: choose any two | Mon Nov 20 1995 14:33 | 31 |
| There were often two drummers onstage at one time and they seemed to
work together well. As I mentioned before, there were also sometimes
two bassists. The double bass/drums rhythm section seemed to balance
the guitar onslaught pretty nicely.
Everyone seemed to have huge ears last night. I heard lots of subtle(!)
interplay; amazing considering the circumstances. And people weren't
stepping on each other's sonic toes too much either. Even with several
guitars going at once, you could usually make out the individual voices
quite clearly. I don't know how you guyz did it, but it worked.
My favorite tonemeister of the night was clearly Steve Goodwin.
Just a re-issue SG straight into the Kitty Hawk M1; the sound
was magic. Nice playing too, of course.
Dave Hickernell brought a Bag End 1x15 bass cab that sounded great;
a serious piece of equipment. Dave also did a decent Jack Bruce
imitation on some old Cream tunes; Brian Rost woulda loved it.
The action went non-stop from about 5 (after an hours worth of setup)
till a little after 9:00. Having a PA there was very nice, and the
arranged/vocals stuff that Tom et al did kept the proceedings from
getting into a rut.
The 8-Point was a nice location and I'd be up for doing something
there again. Possible improvements: an earlier start time, with
time for more/different sets of people, and maybe some food (like
a group pizza order).

| Many thanks to Dave C. for making the arrangements and organizing the jam.
Without his efforts, we'd still be talking about jamming, rather than having
done it!
The thing that amazed me the most was the talent and musicianship displayed
by all... I didn't hear any players whose chops weren't solid as rock.
The rhythm section(s) were right on time! All the drummers & percusionist
did a great job managing the stops & dynamics considering that most of the
tunes were unrehearsed. Dave H., Rick C, & John D.(?) held the bottom end
down very nicely... Dave's 'Jack Bruce Tribute' solo was very cool indeed!
As for the guitarists-the commendations are too numerous to cover all in a
list.
Tom D. & Dave C. - great chops & vocals to boot! Tom, the Blues Deville
lives up to all the good things I've heard about them. And by the way,
thanks again for the B-string refill! What kind of bozo shows up at a jam
without spare strings? :-) Dave, it goes without saying that I thought
your tone was great. Why? You were playing through a KH, of course! :-)
Larry V. - superb slide work! It blows my mind that you can do that with
a normal tuning. Larry also wins the 'Travellin' Man' award - I always
knew I needed a wireless, but watching him cruise around the room whilst
wailing away was too cool!
Kevin L. - lone shredder in a 'roomful of bluesers'... living proof that
shredders and bluesers can coexist in harmony, and actually make great
music together. There's definitely some big b@llz hiding in that all-
boogie half stack rig you got.
Dave D. - you might have thought you were hiding in the mix, but I heard
you! Very tasteful playing! Understated elegance & simplicity in your
tele / boogie setup.
Hey Rick C., thanks for the vote of confidence on the SG/KHM1 tone! In
my quest for the tonal 'holy grail', I've found that going back to my
roots, so to speak, gets me closer to where I'm tryin' to be. I've been
working to eliminate all the multi-fx baggage, to uncover the pure tone
of Gibson humbuckers thru an all-tube amp.
Alas, I didn't get to meet everyone there, so there are some folks who
I can't list, but who also made a great contribution to the success of
the jam. Thanks to all who participated.
All-in-all it was a great evening - I'll be there whenever we get around
to doing something like this again!

Yes, many thanks to Dave for putting this together. Everyone seemed
to do a fine job of playing though at times it was difficult to tell

the place to be, it was difficult to hear what was going on from the
right side (Dave C & myself) when I visited over on the left. I swear
Tom D's Deville goes to 11 :). The drums/percussion were solid as a

As a "twist" on the next WoodsJam (good name Rick C., I like it), we
could:
- toss all the guitarists names into 1 hat.
- toss the bass players names into another hat.
- toss a list of various genres into another hat, for example:
jazzy, slow-blues, fast-blues, shuffle, rock etc ...
Pick a couple of guitarists from hat one,
pick a bass player from hat 2,
pick a style from hat 3, then get up and play something close to
that style.
This could lead to some interesting results for part of the evening
anyways.

Or maybe just a wimp in general, since even my little

A huge THANKS to all who attended the jam, especially Dave for
really making it happen. I had a great time!!
That comment about shredders and blues in happy coexistence was
right on the money...I had to quickly abandon my DiMeola/Yngwie
influences as best I could and whip off some VERY spontaneous
Mixo-modal licks!!! FUN!!!! I enjoyed it all.
ALL you folks in attendance JAMMED!!! I was very into the whole
deal, my hat's off to all.
BTW: was that percussion ROCKIN' or what!?!?!
Later!

What a nice thing to say about the new KH King! (Hey I KNEW M1's kicked
butt a long time ago!) I wish I could've been there to check it out.
Now I'm starting to miss my KH's after hearing that. Way to go Steve!
Seriously, I do make it to the GMA from time to time. The last time
I brought my axe was for a quick guit-together with Buck, Kevin M,
Bulldawg, and a couple others. I'll keep my eyes open.

This frigid weather has got me looking ahead towards April and thinking
that the time for another DECJam might be approaching. I was kinda
thinking mid April, like Sat the 13th or Sun. the 14th. Dave C., is
there a chance of getting the 8-Points Club in Sterling again for the
event ? Is there any interest for such an event ?
ThawJam or SpringJam '96 perhaps ?

yeah, we could do that. I'm a little miffed at 8 Point; I still
haven't gotten my $25 security deposit back from the last jam,
even though my buddy on the board keeps saying he'll straighten
it out for me. But aside from that, it would work out OK for me.
My wife's going to be gone for a week in April; that would be
the best week ;-)

April 14th is not a date cast in stone. If some folks would really
like to come, we can pick another date. I know the week of Apr 27-28
is bad for me. How about Sunday the 21st ? I'd like to see it happen
on a Sunday eve since a lot of folks have gigs on Saturday. I've
managed to get a tentative from Doug who was one of the drummers last
time around, but he definitely can't do a Saturday night. Tom, I'd
like to see you come, not just for the facial expressions, but the
playing as well.
The 13/14 was just a starting point. We can probably schedule earlier
or later. Any thoughts ?

Well, so far, the list of participants as I read it from this thread
is:
- myself
- Dave Dagg
- Dave Clark
- Rick Calcagni
- Steve Goodwin (verbal)
I've got one of the same drummers we used last time (Doug), and I've
sent mail to Kevin to see if he'd be interested again. Unless we
gather more interest in jamming, this looks like it might be best off
at a private residence rather than going through all of the hassle of
getting a hall. Right now, I've got Doug lined up for Sunday April
14th, I haven't really mentioned the 21st yet. If there's no
compelling reason to go with the 21st, I'd prefer to stick with the
14th as the target date since I know he's available.
Thoughts ?

Either date works for me... I agree with Larry that if it's only
going to be a small group of folks this time, it makes sense to avoid
the cost and hassle of renting a hall.
Are we thinking of doing a similar format as the last one? That seemed
to work well, but I think it would be good if we could figure out a way
to avoid the enormous volume crescendo toward the end of the evening...
It did get a bit painful for those of us who weren't wearing ear plugs.
Are any folks considering putting together a pick-up band to do a few
rehearsed tunes as several of us did at the last one?

| Larry and I though it would be a good idea to pick names from a
hat randomly and let 2 or 3 guitarists play for a while, then
pick a different couple names out and let them play for a while
until all the names were used up. PIck-up bands would be OK too.
I think the problem last time was that not too many people were
sitting down :-)
I think we need just a smidgen of order.

format: if anyone needs a simple rhythm guitar, let me
know the tune/recording and I can try and learn it. Otherwise
its safe to assume I know no tunes. The
random selection thing is fine with me also.
volume: I could bring my db meter (honest I've
got one) just for yucks. Also too much volume
might be easier to attain in a smaller room.

Things don't seem to be looking too promising as to getting a drummer

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of interest in putting the
jam together outside of a handful of players. Being that a fair
amount of work goes into organizing a jam at a hall, it doesn't seem
worth the effort based upon the level of interest. Maybe some other
