1967.0. "I got a Concert, I got a Concert!" by DNEAST::GREVE_STEVE (OK...Who turned on the lights?) Mon Sep 17 1990 08:50

I swapped my Tele for this amp this week-end... still looking
forward to hearing it through 4x10 cab... <sigh>... Anyway, I have a
    couple of questions:

    1. Does anyone have a schematic for the footswitch it's a two plug
dude. I made a simple switch this weekend and Mr. Amp stopped talking
for a few minutes.. little scary.. so I want to do it right... Why does
    Fender keep changing these things?

    2. This may be a general question but, If I have master volume set
higher than volume, what does gain do anyway.. makes this amp louder
    and a little edgey...

    Regards,
    Steve

Nope, not helpful.. hell I wrote one of those... Your reply might
be helpful if it were more specific or pointed me to a schematic..
guess I should call Fender... Thanks again for the pointers Mark.. I
just noted (no pun intended) that I've got a base note number equal to
the year I graduated from High School.. ahhhh good ole.. 67!

Most of you pups were probably being planned in 67... I know, if
old Sally Osgood had been more cooperative... I sure as hell would have
been planning.. Don't laugh boys... stick a 4 in front of your age and
    you'll start acting wacky too...

Now, back to those Fender Pedal Specs...

Okay, let's try a differant approach....

What year and exact model is this amp. My understanding is that
Fender has had more than one concert model over the years.

I have a copy of "The tube amp book" (By Aston Pittman, founder
of the Groove tube company). If this is an older amp, this book
    should have the schematic.

My 1978 Twin had two RCA phono jacks on the back which connected
to a dual footswitch for the reverb and tremelo. This switch had
to be connected at all times in order for the reverb and trem to
work. Is this similar to your amp ?

    Hi Steve,

The difference between gain and volume is that the gain controls the
preamp and the volume controls the power amp. Using these two, you can
set the level of distortion without having to turn the amp up loud
enough to kill small animals. It's the preamp design that really
separates the better amps from others. Without looking at a schematic,
I'd bet that my new "Twin" has the same amp as vintage Fender amps, but
the preamp of the overdrive is substantially different, probably
modeled after a Boogie - which was modeled after a Fender to begin
    with.

Congrats on your new amp. If you're like me, you're sportin a woodie
these days listening to how well you play on this new amp. I still get
one when I go to practice and play my twin. In fact, I even like to rub
    up against it ;^)

BTW, I too graduated class of '67.

.3 Thanks dude, I'll get the particulars tonight... mine goes to 2 "
phone jacks.. one's red and one's grey.. and it matters which is
which.. the instructions on the back of the amp are very specific.
Tremolo (yeah, right, I _WISH_ I had tremolo) I mean reverb works OK
without the foot switch and channel switching can be done by pullin' on
yer pot... so to speak.. the volume pot on the dasturdly channel pulls
up to make th switch. Dang does this amp sound good on that channel,
the volumes match great!! I hate to say it but overall this older
Concert head (running through two 12s... I can only DREAM about how
good it's gonna soudn through 4 tens) blows my 60 away. The 60 has
some nice tones but no guts...

Next time I buy an amp new, I'm turnin' up the volume!!!

I remember Fender having a Concert amp years ago! Of course I also
remember the venerable Bandmaster amp. Shoot, I used to own a
    Ampeg Portaflex!
And I'm "only" 33 as well.

BoOm, yep, they made a 4x10 concert in the 60s... I had one of
those last weekend and took it back cause of the dang Pyle Driver
speakers... AND they revived the Concert in the 80s (83 I think).. and
I've got one of those (head only) now.. and I'm looking for a 4x10 to
run it through..... Really nice sounding amp... breaths better than my
    60 does!!!
1967.9It didn't have no reverb, just tremolo...LUDWIG::PHILLIPSMusic of the spheres.Tue Sep 18 1990 11:3315

    Hey, BooM....

I used to OWN a brown cover '60s Fender Concert - bought it secondhand
in 1970. It was my first "good" amp, but I sold it when the power
transformer caught on fire (I'm serious!) Had I not been young and
foolish then, I might have kept it anyway and today gotten $$$ from
    some collector ..... ***sigh***

    "Only" 33? You young whipper-snapper...... ;)
