1897.0. "Need New England jam info:" by RAVEN1::DANDREA (Frog lickers unite!) Wed Jul 11 1990 10:41

    Hi noters.....

I'm leaving GSO (Greenville, SC) for a sales support job in Virginia
Beach. But for the next 20 weeks, I'll be in the Technical
Developement Program in Nashua, while living in Lowell, Mass. I'm
planning on taking my Les Paul to school with me, but I don't really
know if I'll have time to jam. But, just in case, are there any local
clubs that do the blues jam thing? I like those "informal" anything
goes type jams where all ability levels are accepted. No snobs,
    please. Let me know, guys.

    Steve

Lotsa jams in Cambridge, they range from "anybody plays" to "only the best
players in town get a shot". The vast majority are on Sundays, but
    there are weeknight jams too.

    Clubs to try out:

    Cantab Lounge
    Cantare's
Middle East (all of the above in Central Square area of Cambridge)

Harper's Ferry (this is in Allston)

And out in the boonies: The Bobby Watson Band jam, every Sunday at
Kemo Sabe in Ashland (lotsa bikers here, if that's your bag!)

Or come jam with my band, the Hubcaps, we play Sundays at the Plough
and Stars in Cambridge, bring a git and introduce yerself and you can
    blow a few crochets.

Steve,

In the AKO484::AFTER_HOURS notesfile, there is a note dedicated to open jams,
you might want to check it out.

And you had better get in touch with me while you're up here! I'm sure we can
set up some jammin' time somewhere down the line!

I'm gonna be in Boston the last week of DECworld....I haven't played
"live" in a while, but I could probably muster up a few blues chops
that would feel good...are the jams listed here still active? The week
I'm there is Sunday 5/10 thru Friday 5/14.

    Lemme know!

    Re: .7

I think the Middle East jam is defunct, Bobby Watson jam is now in
Framingham (not sure of exact location). Harper's jam is still going
strong on Sunday nights. My band the Hubcaps is now the Bones of
Contention and doing Wednesdays instead of Sundays. Assuming we're
still doing 'em in May, you're welcome to sit in with us (so is anybody
else for that matter, so far I've only had a few takers!).
