1875.1 | Sound service | MILKWY::JACQUES | If you don't stop, you'll go deaf | Tue Jun 19 1990 16:41 | 9 |
| It sounds more like you are looking to hire a sound service than to
just rent a PA. To rent all that gear for one night would amount
to several hundred dollars. For that much, you can usually get a
sound service to provide everything. If you are in the Central Mass
area, talk to Niel Orsi. He can be reached at LEDS::ORSI
Good Luck,

1875.2 | | ICS::BUCKLEY | Damn, [Expletive] this [Expletive]! | Tue Jun 19 1990 16:54 | 6 |
| I would expect to pay between $150 - $300/night for a system of this
capacity. The higher end runs with more channels, fx, and power (like
quad-amped systems, in the 2500wt range), the lower range with less.
Also, distance traveled is accounted for in the bill!

1875.3 | | RAVEN1::JERRYWHITE | Joke 'em if they can't take a ... | Wed Jun 20 1990 00:30 | 8 |
| A sound company here in Greenville SC rent a monster rig like that,
only they go 24 channels, 8 Community cabs, plus they throw in 4 light
trees with 8 500W pars on each one for $400 a night - this includes a
highly trained sound engineer. The band doesn't touch a thing - it's
in the contract. My old band did this one time, it was expensive but
it was a nice luxury too.

1875.4 | I'll recommend CSS | MAVENS::SAKELARIS | | Wed Jun 20 1990 11:05 | 13 |
| We rent a sound company depending upon the gig. We use CSS out of New
Boston New Hampshire. They provide all the power and effects and
speakers we'd ever use, short of special fx for the Centrum. They also
provide lights and 3 dudes to set up and tear down all that gear. All
we bring is guitars and amps. They get $275/night, depending upon
travel.
For our next gig, they'll also be bringing a mobile studio so we can
get a good tape of the band live. We're looking to mix that into a demo
tape instead of a studio produced demo. The dude said it'd be "a couple
a bucks extra", we could be open for a shocker but I sorta doubt it.

1875.5 | low-cost PA rental? (ie. $50-$100) | DPE::STARR | I'll be your Tennessee lamb..... | Fri Jan 10 1992 14:53 | 13 |
| My band is looking at having to rent a PA system for a party we might be
playing. Nothing really fancy, we just need something a little more than
the 100-watt Peavey thing we usually to use.
The party is February 15th, in North Conway, NH. Money is short, as its a
charity gig, and we're doing it for pretty low bucks. Anyone know a place
to recommend for a low-end PA system, either just for a rental (that we
move and set up) or complete show (they move and set up, including engineer)?
Either fellow DECcies or outside references would be appreciated!!!

alan

1875.6 | referrals/suggestions wanted | QRYCHE::STARR | Beauty and Sadness | Tue Nov 16 1993 14:26 | 9 |
| Looking for recommendations/referrals for hiring a sound/light service for
a night. See No Evil has got a gig at a very good club in Boston in January
(a Thursday night), where we'd like to hire a professional soundman/equipment
- it's our first time there and we want to make sure we make a good impression.
Respond here or send mail (QRYCHE::STARR).
thanks,
alan

1875.7 | sound guy... | SMURF::LONGO | Mark Longo, UNIX(r) Software Group | Wed Nov 17 1993 13:55 | 13 |

Alan,
I have used the following guy before (3-4 years back) and he was pretty
good. At that time he had sound gear only (no lights) but he could handle any
size club or small concert venue. I don't even know if the number is still good
but you could give it a try.
