1786.1 | pin down that sound | HUNEY::MACHIN | | Fri Apr 20 1990 05:29 | 3 |
| Is it that sort of thin, very slightly chorusy sound?

| Dunno about the thin part, but chorus seems to be part of the sound.
...matter of fact, I get the impression they're doing *something* other
than chorusing to fatten it up.
I'll check the 2 albums mentioned in .0 to see if I can find which
piece uses the sound.

| Edd!
Could it be a processed electric acoustic ?
They have some wild characteristics when you start enhancing them with
signal processors, and compressors. They tend to take on some unusual sounds.
I have "On Solid Ground", and I can't say for sure if the sound I'm thinking
of is on it... I'll give it a listen on the ride home today.
Some of the Metal Fatigue album was cut with an elec. acuostic, but
he also used a synth axe, and a modified 'tele style piece for most
of it. (and aint he (Holdsworth) the cats meow!!)

1786.4 | nice.... | ROYALT::BUSENBARK | | Fri Apr 20 1990 14:13 | 6 |
| It definately sounds processed,and sound's like a twelve string
or a six string with a harmonizer,definately acoustic....with chorus.
I can't say I've heard it on "Solid Ground" but the show on CBS
sounds very unique and pleasing.....I first thought it was Snuffy
Walden,but the credit's don't indicate him......

Yeah, you know the sound! Either 12 string or harmonized...

| I found it. Check out "The Philosopher" (CD track 3) On "On Solid
Ground". The sound becomes featured at 1'37" into the track, playing
3 1/8 notes in a riff...
