1643.0. "ME-5 BOSS effects UNIT ?" by GAOV05::GLYNN () Thu Jan 18 1990 04:09

    Im looking for information on the following two items;

    	ME-5 effects pedals by BOSS;

    	Does anyone own/have experience of an ME-5 unit ?
    	Are the actual sounds echo/overdrive/chorus etc as good as the
    	individual pedals ??
    	Any information would be appreciated ... also anything around
    	its use /features.
    	Im thinking of trading 3 BOSS pedals for one ... for this reason
    	I want to be sure Im doing the right thing..!!

    	Headset microphones;

    	WHat are the best buys here ?
    	Do they all need batteries or phantom power ?
    	Is phantom power better/same than using batteries.
    	Is there any available with a switch?
    	Our bass player uses an Audoi Technica type but switchable only
    	when using batteries....

    	Any info here would also be appreciated...

    	In our neck of the woods (Galway) its very hard to get info on anything
    	that is (only) slightly out of the ordinary!!!!

    	regards,

    	Ray

    You may want to check notes 703 and 860 for more info on the ME-5. As
    I remember, a few noters had these at one point and put in their
    reviews of the unit.

    For the headset mikes, I remember a discussion of these in the COMMUSIC
    notes file. Press KP7 to add this conference to your notebook.

    They're not a whole lot cheeper than a DSP128, or even an ArtSge 4 that
    matter.

    I heard one in a live situation and the sound to me was thin, weak
    and squeeky. It could've been the guys set up though... Sounded
    like a transister radio on steroids to me.
