I added the following to the Fender Twin topic, but noone reads that any- more. Please do not start writing about all sort of other amps in this topic. Here we go: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was just going through this topic, eager to get some important informa- tion on my *NEW FENDER TWIN*, and what did I find? A lot of stuff about Marshall, GK, SD, MB etc. Don't anyone have anything to say about this fantastic amp? I like it so much, it's just that I'm getting confused about all the posibilities in setting the buttons - I don't think it's enough with the examples delive- red with the amp... Can anyone list some examples of setting up this amp? Couldn't we share some experience here? F. ex., I found one overdrive setting (damn, I don't remember how I did it), which gave me a very singing sound with my Blade strat connected; when keeping the tone, it changed into harmonics in a very beautiful, smooth way...the only thing I'm not too impressed with, is the noise level, especially if you pull out some of the treble boost but- tons - but I guess, you have to live with this on a tube amp? Another thing, somebody mentions Celestion speakers. Do they sound better than the original ones, or are they just more reliable when playing on HIGH volumes. If replacing the Fender ones with these, what part no. do you order? Hope to get some good info on my new wonder baby... Poul

Your lack of response might just indicate that few noters had the $$ to shell out for a new twin. 8-( Mark Jacques did put in lots of good info on his new twin. BTW, since almost everyone uses Next Unseen, we're as likely to have seen this reply under the original Twin note as we were here. Kevin | |||||

I have a Fender "The Twin" as well as an older silver-face Twin Reverb. The Twin is definately a hot sounding amp. I have found that the most critical thing about the amp is the power tubes. With good power tubes, my amp performs and sounds great. The minute a power tube becomes the least bit micro-phonic, the amp starts making rumbling noises. Believe it or not, the amp works better with generic tubes than it did with a set of Groove tubes I tried in it. As far as settings go, I find I have to set it differant depending if I am using my Telecaster, or my ES345. I always use a Boss CS3 Compressor/Sustainer with it, as well as a few other efx. A great deal of flexibility is available by trying differant settings of the presence/pull notch. Try pulling the notch function out, and set the dial at 7 o'clock. Then crank up the middle, and treble. You should be able to get feedback at almost any volume level this way, even at really low practive volumes. Bye for now, Mark Jacques |
