1601.0. "Tube Drivers For Bass" by FSTTOO::GALLO (Solid!) Tue Dec 19 1989 10:55

Does anyone have any experience with using guitar
tube drivers with the bass? I just picked one up on
a good deal (it hasn't arrived yet) and am wondering
how it'll work out with the bass.

On a related topic, what is the difference, if any, between
the "Blue Tube" tube driver for the Bass and the "Real Tube"
tube driver that is for the guitar. I'm not sure of the name,
but the same manufacturer makes both.

My understanding was that the EQ curve on the "Blue Tube" was in a
different range then the regular "Real Tube" driver. They recommend
that one for jazz guitar players and bass players.

As far as using a regular tube driver, I don't see why it wouldn't
work. It might sound a little bright but you could probably compensate
    for that.

The Real Tube was designed to provide more gain and distortion than
the Blue Tube; you may have trouble getting a clean bass sound
out of the Real Tube if that's what you're looking for.

I think you're right. The gizmo arrived yesterday
and I was fiddling with is last night. I could not get a
decent "slightly overdriven" bass tone from it unless I set
the "overdrive" control down near 0. It has a really good
overdriven sound for guitar, but doesn't seem at all
    suitable for bass.

No problem, though. I'll use it when I eventually
    get another electric.
