Does anybody out there have any information on Gretsch(?) guitars. The model I need info on is a Super Chet. When were they made? How much are they worth? etc. My guess is that this guitar is of late 60s or early 70s vintage. Thanks Tom Boilard

The Gretsch Super Chet was made from the early '70's (I think
72-73--I'll have to check) until Gretsch stopped guitar production.
Super Chets are sort of really fancy Country Clubs,17" x 2.75"
hollowbodies with tons of
abalone and floating controls (but set-in pickups--very strange). Up 'til
'75 they had 24.75" scales; later ones had 25.5" scales. Some of the
early ones had very wide (1.8125") necks.
Current price for these in mint condition is around $1500.
There was one in the WantAd for $550 or so recently, but from the
description, it was really either an Atkins Axe or Super Axe, a
solidbody with built-in phaser and compressor , and nowhere near as
desirable as a Super Chet.
