Mesa/Boogie will UPS you an EVM-12L for $115, shipping included.
You have to put it in. They also have Celestions for about $90.
Carvin also sells these speakers, at about the same prices.
If you are in MA/NH, try N.E.S.T. (NE Speaker Technology) in Stoneham
at 617-438-1786. They sell raw speakers plus do speaker repairs, etc.
They carry EV, Eminence, JBL.
I'd like to know of any dealers who can sell you an EVM/JBL-E equivalent
for $125 installed!!!

| Seems like PYLE makes some really good, but inexpensive replacement
speakers... I've seen them in vast amounts of catalogs...
(like cheaper than Celestions...)

About 2 months ago, I set out to build me a 2x10 enclosure( half open
back, half completely enclosed ala Mesa/Boogie) and I checked into
few shops in town ( Colorado Springs ) for either Celestians or EV's.
Much to my dismay, I found that I would have to spend around $200 for
speakers!!! I turned to my instructor for some widom on this subject,
and he recommended Pyles. Well, trusting him blindly, I bought a pair
for less than $100 brand new! And let me tell you that although I
would prefer having one Celestian on top, this home-made cab does
wonders when I am just farting around the house.
For more serious playing, I do prefer my Mesa/Boogie Mark III half
stack, but the home-made cab does gives some kick ass, lower level
sound!!!!

1532.4 | New speakers are pretty expensive | CSC32::G_HOUSE | Hooks in you | Mon Oct 30 1989 17:59 | 18 |
| I've heard quite a few people say that they don't like Pyles, but GK
uses them in their 250MLs and other amps, and the bass player in my
band has one in a custom cabinet with a JBL 15 and it sounds great.
I got a catalog recently that had Celestions in it, I don't remember
how much they were for the 12s, the 10s were $64 ea.
For guitar, I prefer Celestions to anything else I've heard (EV, JBL,
PV), although it's kind of a fine line sometimes. Mesa Boogie also has
some speakers of their own that they call Black Shadows which I've
heard are nice. They're less expensive then the other name brands they
sell.
You might consider getting a good quality used speaker and having it
rebuilt if you can get a good price on it. You can end up saving quite
a bit sometimes.
