1387.1 | orange ok! | GAOV09::GLYNN | | Wed Jul 19 1989 13:20 | 18 |
| - dont know an awful lot about them only.... they've been around
for quite a while now at least 20 years...
.. more robust than the Marshell...(if thats possible!)
... and not unlike the Marshell sound... (possibly to do with
the el34's).. .from what I remember they were rated fairly high
some 15/20 years ago... Dont know if they've developed them
since then with reverb, effects loops etc... but as long as
you're happy... thats the main thing!
You dont mention speakers, or are you talking top only! If not
are the celestions or jbls ?? If so this might account for the
good sound!!
no doubt youll get more detailed reports from our American
virtuosos!!

1387.2 | look for GP article | ANT::JACQUES | | Wed Jul 19 1989 13:31 | 7 |
| Guitar Player magazine did an article on Orange amps about
1 to 2 years ago. I will check through back issues and post
the issue here when I find it. As I recall, the amp is almost
bullet proof, with a heavily braced chrome-plated chassis.
I also seem to remember these amps having a few "firsts"
(perhaps an efx loop).

Thanks an lot Ray.
I only have the head which I play though an unmarked 18" bass speaker
(coz I play the bass in a band) in a home made cab.
The sound is excellent, just the way like it.
It sounds even better played through a Marshall (note the spealing)
cab playing lead.
BTW mine has an effects loop.
Got to go now
Keep in touch

1387.4 | see May or June '88 issue of GP | ANT::JACQUES | | Wed Jul 19 1989 14:47 | 11 |
| The article mentioned in .2 can be found in the May or June '88
issue of Guitar Player magazine. The same issue has an article on
Andy Brauer and he has an Orange amp (complete with stock speaker
cabinet) among his collection of vintage guitars/amps.
Good luck finding the right issue.
