Have you ever heard Metallica's version of Louie, Louie ? I think
it starts with a chugga-chugga 32nd note triplet run and the lyrics
"Your mother was a witch - louie, louie
She was burnt alive <chuga-chuga> - louie,louie"

now.....Hey, I said SHUTUP! Hey! you 125 guys over there, quit
jamming on those ANTHRAX tunes! We're gonna do Louie Louie!
Cut it out! This is NOT a Skynard practice session, and I wanna
know who keeps playing those Free Bird licks.. If you guys can't
behave, we're gonna call this whole thing off...Stop it now,
and listen! What's that son? NO, you don't have time to go to

Good intentions, Jeff, but it's gonna take some serious "brightening
up" to make it through a HALF HOUR of 400 axes playing "louie, louie".
Maybe we should consider costumes or even a criminal act right in
middle of the whole fiasco. I still haven't heard if they're gonna
try and get us all in tune....again, it probably doesn't matter.

re.30
In case nobody knows what the "peach" is, it's a water reservoir
made in the shape of a peach. It even has the right color and
a vertical groove like a real peach which from some angles looks
pretty rude. Anyways, I heard it may be televised afterwards.
Could be why such famous folks like Jeff "It's SHarvel!" Cooper
will be there...

432 metal heads, old hippies, gospel pickers and rock 'n rollers!
Actually, it didn't sound near as bad as I thought it would. The
electric types gathered around mixers which fed into about a 60
watt amp. There were about 10 people around each mixer. The acoustic
types sat up front in the "orchestra section". The house band was
on stage up front. If you listened REAL hard, you could hear yourself.
We started up at 6:01 and it was picked up live by the local news
station. The 30 minutes went by real fast and everybody was showing
off so they could be on TV. I have to admit that as terrible as I play,
I was pretending to be a bad ass. Just checking out the incredible
number of new and vintage guitars was worth the trip! They gave
away a strat, a marshall mini stack, a washburn acoustic and a gsp-5(?)
processor for door prizes. It was a gas!

it didn't sound too bad, but I'd say Warner Bros. didn't miss much.
;^)
Don't let Pat fool ya. He's a better axe-man than he cares to admit.
I've seen a mega improvement recently... You played thru the whole
thing didn't ya ? All the rookies were dropping like flies...

Well, a year has past since we set the record for the largest guitar
jam - hey, that also makes it a year since I've been playing. Anyways,
our record was 465 guitarists playing "Louie, Louie" for 30 minutes.
It seems that our record was beaten by some folks in Santa Cruz this
past April. 532 guitar players played for 43 minutes - the pukes!
Well, come July 19th, the South Carolina Axe Association will attempt
an extremely dangerous counter attack. 1,000 pickers and grinners
will play Rock Around the Clock for a full hour! Bring your axe and
cord. It'll be a great guitar show if nothing else. Watch here for
valuable giveaway and celebrity participant information and other
hype-type-bullsh*t.
