Two guitarists portraits :
- Leon Brouwer (Cuba)
- Augustin Barrios Mangore (Nicaragua).
Leo Brouwer is one of these special people who learns music by
themselves. He is a wonderful guitarist, but also one of the most
creative composer (concertos, guitar solos etc..). Recently, I listen
to one of the Beatles' hit "the Fool on the hill" transcripted for the
guitar by Leon Brouwer and played by John Williams : it was just
delicious !!
Augustin Barrios Mangore is the greatest guitar virtuosos of the
first half of this Century. People surname him the Paganini of the
guitar. He was also a prolific guitar composer of various styles
from baroque to modern. One of my favorites is "the Catedral", inspired
by Jean-Sebatien Bach.

Do you really rank Barrios above Segovia, or are you just assigning
Segovia to the latter half of the century? Just curious, not
bickering.
