970.0. "Pendulum acoustic preamp" by ANT::JACQUES () Wed Nov 09 1988 13:19

    Has anyone seen the new Pendulum acoustic guitar preamp. I just
    saw one advertised in Frets. This is a single space rack-mount
    unit. It has a phantom powered attenuator that plugs into the
    endpin jack on the guitar. Features include a four band parametric
    equalizer, 2 effects loops, balanced/unbalanced outputs, and a
    dual footswitch.

    It looks pretty neat, but I can't help but wonder if it is
    just a glorified eq. I would think this would work well with
    a guitar equipped with a thinline type pickup. It is aimed at
    people that don't want to cut a hole in their guitar to install
    an inplant preamp. I still think an Ovations or Takamine is the
    ultamate for live work. If I had to guess I would think this
    unit would have to sell for at least $400 or more. That would
    make a good deposit on a New Ovations or Takamine.

    Anyone ever see one of these units ? What does anyone think ?
    Is Pendulum just some fly-by-night outfit, or have they been
    around for a while ?
