I'd go for the SPX90 myself... Little more versatile.
The idea of digital distortion makes me push my lunch to one side.

Then again, the SPX90 (IMO) is no prixe either.
I hate the high freq resonance and ultra-signal compression the
unit has to offer.

Guess we know why REX50s are being sold off at half-price.
This GEP sounds like an REX in a rack-mount package.
REX50s are being blown out in Boston for $299 at LaSalle's.

Re. .3
I never said the SPX90 solved every problem, just more than
a homogenous digital effects processor. It has some nice tones
on it. Hey, for $600-$700, you really can't go wrong.

| If it don't got harmonization, I ain't interested.
SPX, is to my knowledge, still the only multi-effects unit with
a harmonizer.
Someone please tell me I'm wrong.

Does not Ibanez make a "Harmonics Delay" with a harmonizer?

746.9 | just bought one | IMPULS::STARR | SRV.....I can't believe you're gone....... | Tue Nov 06 1990 14:40 | 14 |
| Just picked up a GEP50 for my rack. Haven't had much time to spend with it,
but it seems to have a pretty decent bang for the buck (bought it used for
$140).
The distortion is pretty bogus, but its going in the rack with the KH Quattro,
so that doesn't bother me. There's a pretty neat application that allows you
to have two harmony parts playing along with the original signal (get that
Brian May sound). And the chorus, flange and reverb seem to be pretty decent
sounding. The delays are pretty good too, but limited to 500ms.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with it, considering the price paid. And if I ever
feel the desire to convert to the MIDI RACK FROM HELL, it is MIDI compatible.

Alan, I'll get you the setups for one my brother has labelled
`In-A-Pipe'. Sounds like you're playing in a culvert.
Good one for bass too, but better when you give it ALOT of
krunch ! :^)
