...and the next step up from that is to have the whole signal
path and all processing be done in a 16 bit format!!! Any bets on
what issue will announce the 1st *totally* digital guitar amp?

| Don't buy it if it's not MIDI!
I think we're rapidly approaching the time where if you're plan is to
build an integrated system that's easily controlled, you'd be crazy
to buy any non-stomp-box type effect that isn't controllable through MIDI.
There are now MIDI system controller stomp boxes for guitar players
going for as little as $200. I think that's going to be the catalyst
that brings MIDI into the forefront for guitar players.
I'm waiting for Boogie to come out with a MIDI'd amp (this is based on
a wish, not a rumor). Might be enough for me to consider retiring
or, gulp, selling my old trusty Mark II.

db,
The Quad Preamp by Mesa/Boogie has been left open for Midi enhancement. I
believe what they plan to do is integrate some type of pedal or perhaps a rack
module of sorts into the many controller-type jacks (these are ") that the
Quad has in its back.

672.4 | Mesa Midi Matrix -- and reverb too | MISING::SFAFRAK | Albuquerque...once a vast wasteland | Wed Jun 15 1988 19:55 | 11 |
| Hello again,
I reread my owners manual on the Quad last night and the reference I
made to the Midi enhancement is actually called the "Mesa Midi Matrix".
Mesa also claims that their newly designed reverb rivals that of the
digital variety (albeit no parameters to adjust). All said though,
it is one of the smoothest reverbs I have ever heard; in fact, I use
it more than the DEP5 reverb (on my guitar).
