543.0. "PLAYERS & BANDS -- MATCHMAKING NOTE" by USMRW7::DADDIECO (That's just the way it is ...) Sun Mar 20 1988 16:04

I talked the the GUITAR Moderator recently about whether or not there
was an appropriate note in this conference that housed "Want-Ads" for
musicians looking for work or bands looking for players. To the best
of his knowledge he didn't think there was one. So, he gave me
permission to add a new topic for just that purpose.

    So here it is.

Please use this note if you are a band looking for players or a
    musician looking for work.

PLAYERS who are seriously interested in finding leads and opportunities
to audition for start-up or working bands should use this note to
    advertise themselves.

START-UP OR WORKING BANDS who are in need of players should also
use this note to advertise their need for players.

I suggest that any inquiries or followups be addressed directly to
the author of the reply so we can keep the content purely want-ad
    related.

That's about it! I guess I'll be the first to go public to get
    things started.

    Thanx ... Dan

543.1BASS Player Looking for WorkUSMRW7::DADDIECOThat's just the way it is ...Sun Mar 20 1988 16:0787
NAME: Dan Daddieco

INSTRUMENTS: Primary: BASS GUITAR

	Secondary:
	Guitar (finger and flat picker)
Vocals (some lead - mostly backup)
	Song writer

BACKGROUND: Performed professionally for 8 years - 62' to 70'.
All Rock and Roll group type experience. Let it all slide
for several years thereafter for some good reasons, and
for some not so good. Picked it all up again about 8
years ago and have been rigorously bettering myself.

Organized and performed in FallJam87. Played bass guitar
and sang with the Gino Carlton Band and the Teaboys.

Since FallJam87 have played in various DEC jams and filled
in for groups that were in need of a bass player.

INFLUENCES: Chuck Berry, The Ventures, The Beatles, The Rolling
Stones, the English rock influences of the 60's, Beach
Boys and the surgence of Southern Rock and Pop Country of
            the 70's.

GOALS: -- Place myself into a working rock group as a bassist
               and vocalist.

-- Place myself into a upstart aspiring rock group as
               a bassist and vocalist

-- Perform several times per month at respectable
               entertainment centers.

-- Be with the same group of players for the
               "long-term."

Please Note: It is of paramount importance that the
people I play with have professionalism, maturity, team
spirit and understand what commitment to a musical project
            means.

MUSICAL PERFORMANCE PREFERENCE:

Hand clapping, foot stomping, toe tapping - I just gotta
get out there and DANCE kind of music. I want to see
people having fun because of the music I play. I am very
much into performing for the pleasure of others coupled
with a careful blending of music selections that I enjoy
playing. (When I play for my own "pure" pleasure I am
usually among very good friends.) But for me, if people
are dancing and having a good time, that's what it's all
            about.

Not looking to substitute my income at Digital. Would
rather use my Digital income to fund my musical endeavors.

543.2Guitar/KeyboardsDREGS::BLICKSTEINMIDI DJMon Mar 21 1988 09:1741
Name:	Dave Blickstein

Main Instruments: Guitar and Keyboards

Other Instruments: Backup vocals

Styles: Mainly rock (especially "progressive rock"), but I try to
dabble in as many as possible including blues, classical,
ragtime, jazz, country, heavy metal, etc.

Influences:	Steve Morse and Keith Emerson are my single biggest
influences. Also like Larry Carlton, Van Halen, Yes,
ELP, LZ, Randy Rhodes, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, Jeff Beck.

Equipment: Better than the vast majority of pros. Some might say,
excessive for a software engineer. I also have a modest
4 track recording setup with drum machines, MIDI sequencers,
    	    sound processing, etc.

Location: Nashua/Hudson, NH

I have a fairly flexible schedule, good transportation, and
I can provide a good rehearsal space.

Goals:	I'm looking for a band composed of people who are serious
about music, but who's primary goal is to play out
and have fun. I probably wouldn't fit in well in a
band that is bent on becoming famous, or making a lot of money
        by gigging constantly.

I consider myself both a keyboard player and a guitar player.
I think I could fill either or both roles in a serious band.
Please don't regard me as a hacker because I play two intruments.
I've given live performances of challenging Morse and Yes tunes
on guitar, and Keith Emerson tunes on guitar.

Ideally, I'd like to be in a band that does what I'd call
"classic radio tunes" as well as some originals and some personal
favorites. By "Classic Radio Tunes", I mean tunes that seem
to still get airplay well after they are released. These are
my preferences, but I'm pretty flexible.

    Name: Bruce McCormack

    Location: Newington,NH

    Instrunent: Guitar

    Les Paul Standard
    Ibanez ProStr 2
    Menestrel Seagull

Influences/Interests: Van Halen, Zep, Rush, Night Ranger, Dokken,Yes,
    Aerosmith, Whitesnake

Goals: Get people to at least jam with. Though I'm only here for
the summer, I've been playing for five years, have plenty of band
experience and would work hard to start a temp. band arrangement.
