| How far is Plastow N.H. from you. There's a Hampshire Music up
there that has good string prices if you buy a little quantity.
The more you buy................the cheaper it is.
Good luck with the calouses.

| re: .01 How much do you want to spend? I was asking $200 or B/O.
I haven't gotten the $200 so I'll have to settle for the B/O.
re: .02 If I have to I'll go to Plastow but I would like a little
closer. How are they for doing the actual work on the guitar such
as adjustments and stuff?

| re: .04 The amp is a Kustom 200watt. The exterior is padded in
black. It has 2 Jensen 15" speakers and 1 15" horn. The speaker
cabinet stands about 5' tall plus another 8" for the head. It's
always covered when not in use.

p.s. Do they still make Kustom?

| Didn't Kustom get bought up a modern day manufacturer. I seem
to remember Ross buying them, but I could be wrong.

Actually, Ross was Kustom!!!!
Real early Kustom amps say "Kustom by Ross, Inc."
They must have eventualy parted ways, however. I haven't seen anything
new from Kustom for four or five years, however.
My favorite Kustom product...THE BAG an early talk box effect built
into a fringed handbag which you slung over your shoulder. Well,
in 1970 that seemed plenty hip, I guess......
I saw Mike Pinera of Iron Butterfly play one in "Butterfly Bleu"
on TV one night and I flipped out. I guess I'm easily pleased......

| I have used a Kustom amp similar to the one that you described.
I remember it as being real heavy, real loud, and clean to a fault.
You can forget about the screeming Marshal sound.
You should have no trouble selling the amp in the Want Advertiser.
Get a copy and check the price for similar amps then price yours
accordingly. It should be worth $200-$300 if it is in decent shape.

358.11 | What about strings? | MRMFG1::C_DENOPOULOS | | Tue Oct 13 1987 16:18 | 5 |
| Nobody knows what happens to petals after sitting around for a long
time? How about this question, what do you people recommend for
hard rock/heavy metal strings?

| Re: hard rock/HM strings.
GHS Boomers are, in my opinion, real bright sounding stings. Daddario
are real cool too, they take lotza whammy abuse before throwing
in the towel.

What kind of strings does Rik Sawyer use?

| Second the vote for boomers, even though that's NOT what I use them
for. They're cheap.
As for petals, they usually dry up and fall off, leaving the stamen
and pistil intact yet so overexposed that they also fall off in
a matter of days. In the case of roses and other sweet smelling
flowers, though, the petals are picked while still moist and the
oil is pressed out of them for use in perfume manufacture.
It really depends on what kind of PEDAL you are talking about, and
how it works. Different things can go wrong with a Wah than with
a Volume. Is it active or passive? is it physically controlled
or otherwise (eg photoresistor)? Did you plant early enough in
the spring?
Sorry, 'ts too early in the morning. See you all next week.
