355.0. "COPYRIGHT INFO" by WLDWST::JENSEN () Fri Oct 02 1987 18:54

      Does any one know how to go about obtaining info on copyrighting
      songs? If so, can you tell were to write to obtain the proper
      paperwork, what medium the music must be in and how much all this
      costs? Also, does any one know how to obtain info on joining the two
      song writer's guilds?

      I would appreciate any help and information.

      Thanks,

      Mark Jensen,  Cupertino, California.

355.1Try the GPOCIMNET::LEACHEMon Oct 05 1987 10:544
    The GPO (Government Printing Office) used to publish 2 different
    pamphlets that explained the process of copyrighting music. You'll
    have to write them and request a catalog of publications. (Perhaps
    your local Post Office will have the address?)
355.2Try looking in DREGS::MUSICCOUGAR::JACQUESMon Oct 05 1987 11:113
    There is at least 1 or 2 notes about copyright info in DREGS::MUSIC.
    Try doing a DIR/TITLE="COPYRIGHT"

355.3Don't use DIRECTORY with MUSIC -there's a better wayDREGS::BLICKSTEINDaveMon Oct 05 1987 14:1919

    No!!!

    Do this only if you're prepared to have your terminal tied up for
    about 45 minutes.

    Do NOT use the DIRECTORY command on MUSIC. Instead use note 2.last,
    which always contains a recent directory. Just extract it into
    a file or buffer, and then use an editor or search facility to
    look for key words like "COPYRIGHT".

    You will find that this is about 50 times faster than the directory
    command. Plus it doesn't cause valuable network and host machine
    resources to get eaten up.
