| somewhere around 400 or so $$ is what the stores are asking for
used Fenders of that age. Depending on condition, and modifications,
the price would of course go up.
This is based on my hunting for a used strat.

257.2 | My guesstimate | MORRIS::JACQUES | | Wed May 27 1987 13:31 | 9 |
| I sold a strat two years ago for $400.oo I would imagine her Strat
is worth about $350-$400. They hold there value pretty good. She probably
paid about $499 or more with a hardshell case. The peavey amp on
the other hand is probably only worth about $200-$250. I'm not sure
how much a heritage amp sold for new, but they don't hold their
value as well as the strat will, especially in veiw of all the
new technology coming out at record low prices. Your probably
talking $600.oo for the package deal, to be fair to both parties.

Simply check around at the music stores around your area. The Heritage
amp has the newer style circuitry in it with the saturation lead
gain. It may be worth more than $200-250. If my memory serves me
right, that amp was the most expensive combo tube amp Peavey made
3-4 yrs ago. Not a really horrible sounding amp. Get another 2-12"
cabinet for it and it will crank well for you. I agree with <.2>
that the strat would probably go for $350-400. As long as it is
a, "made in USA", model. Personally there may not any other reason
than for resale yrs down the road that I would not spend that much
for the Jap Fenders. Some people still feel that the USA stamp on
a Fender means that those are the only REAL Fenders. You know, it's
funny, I remember when Leo Fender sold out to CBS... people said
the same thing then too. Interesting isn't it. Awhh, forget
that Jap bit ! If it feels good to you and you get the tones you
like... then go for it !! Check around for the amp prices though.
It won't cost you anything except time.
Have fun !

| ditto on the $400. $175 for the Peavey.
Only time will tell on the Jap strats ... CBS had a good many years
where they made a decent strat - wish I could say the same for the
Jap makes.

257.5 | Low-Ball Quote on that Peavey!!! | AQUA::ROST | We don' need no steenking names | Thu May 28 1987 17:53 | 8 |
| Whoa!!!
$175 for a Peavey Heritage???? Where do I get one???
A Heritage is a *160 watt* solid-state preamp/tube power amp rig
with channel switching, two 12" Scorpions, on-board phase shifter,
parametric eq, etc. It won't hold its value like a Fender but its
worth more than $175.

257.6 | Original price of Heritage ?? | MORRIS::JACQUES | | Fri May 29 1987 16:05 | 7 |
| RE. .5 how much did the peavey heritage sell for new ? I would
estimate it's only worth about 1/2 of its original price due to
all the lastest technology and price for performance available.
If it cost $500.oo brand new my guesstamate of $200- $250 should
be about right. Of course if you tried to trade it in to a
dealer they probably wouldn't even give you that much for it unless
you were buying something super expensive.

257.7 | Used Strat Questions | SQM::SORENSON | | Tue Jan 08 1991 09:47 | 11 |

I wonder if anyone could give me some information on a Strat I'm considering
buying. It's brown sunburst w/maple neck and fretboard. It has what
appears to be a stock Fender hardtail. Also, the output jack has the plug
enter the body at a 90 degree angle, not the traditional 45~ degree angle.
Headstock says "Made in USA." Serial number is E 339883.
Any idea what year this is ('83?). Was there a special model that came with
hardtails vs. tremelo? Opinions on what one of these is worth (in VGC)?
Thanks, (mostly-read-only) _Mark

| If it also has only two knobs instead of three, it's one of the short
lived "Standard" Strats that were made in the final days of CBS
ownership. That puts it 84-85. I have no idea if these are worth any
*less* than other early eighties Strats or not. Certainly not more...

257.11 | need Japanese strat info? | FSCORE::KAYE | where's my Kama Sutra pop-up book for zero-g | Sun Apr 02 1995 09:52 | 10 |
| I just picked up a used Japanese Strat and was wondering if anyone
could fill me in on some details. The serial # is E602997. It has an
allen key lock-down at the nut, and a bridge with small fine tuning
knobs (Floyd-Rose?). When i restring, is there a procedure to allow proper tuning?
Someone has replaced the neck pickup with a blue lace sensor, but the
mismatch in volume is terrible, is there anything i can do? The lace
sensor has an orange wire to the switch, and the white to ground -
proper phase?

middle,tune it at the top and lock it.You should now be close enuff
that the fine tuners can take over.
