133.0. "New Guitar Methods Book" by VENTUR::CAMUSO () Tue Dec 23 1986 16:32

    Greetings from Oz

    I've written a Guitar Fingering Methods book illustrating a
    formulaic technique for structuring scales & chords, and
    explaining the mystery of the "modes". The music
    publishers (Cherry Lane, et al) tell me it reads like a Physics
    Text and needs simplification.

    I'm looking for five volunteers, ranking in expertise from beginner
    to techincally proficient, to critique this manuscript. If the
    results obtained from the five volunteers are inconclusive, I will
    seek more.

    Interested parties should contact me at VENTUR::CAMUSO and detail,
    as accurately and objectively as possible, their level of
    accomplishment and their favorite types of music.

    This technique is applicable to all forms of music.

You might try - How To Be Dangerous on Rock Guitar - written by the same
author 4-5 years later. It contains much of the HGB material in tutorial
form, and comes with optional tapes and poster.

133.5Not that impressed...COOKIE::G_HOUSEGreg House - DTN 523-2722Tue Apr 24 1990 17:3113
I got a copy of this a few years ago and thought it was pretty good at
the time.

Anyway, I pulled it out a couple of months ago with the intent of working
through it some more and the majority of the material seemed pretty basic
to me now. A lot of it's blues based. It would probably be good for a
beginner, I do like the way it's arranged, like a progressive tutorial.

Heavy? I donno, maybe if you wanna sound like Bad Co...

If you want it Mike, E-Mail me your address and I'll give you my copy. 8^)
