... and here's another one ... Anybody ever even seen a Martin E-28 electric lead (solid body)? I lucked out about a year ago buying one from the factory for $300. Was in 'kit form' (I know what you're thinkin' but read on) which was a completely finished guitar except for the hardware/electronics had to be installed/wired. I spent about 10 hours on it total including the detail work on the fingerboard. Sucker's serialized even. Apparently, Martin had discontinued their 'real' electric line (this one's a Martin through and through, not one of those Stinger jobs they've got going now) about 3-4 years ago, shut down the line and put all what was there into their "Woodworker's Dream' to sell as kits. Should have bought two of 'em. Never seen one in a store, used in a band ... and why not? ... and while I'm at it ... I'm looking for an EB-28, the Martin electric bass (also discontinued). If anybody's aware of one of these for sale, I sure like to hear about it. They'd look "Oh so fine" together. AA

Martin built those things in the 60's. Not popular. Used ones don't fetch much. They really aren't bad guitar but electric guitar popularity is based on who plays what not quality. I have not tracked their value but some of the big resellers (Mandoline Bros. in NY; Gruhn Guitars in Nashville) have them. They might even help you find the EB-28. Paul Malkoski

Re: -.1 Beg to differ but the *solid* body E-18, -28 and their bass (EB) cousins were made in the 1980's. There was a *hollow* body line also made in the 60's as well as a limited number of flattops sold with DeArmond pickups mounted right to the top, also from the 60's. All three types were dismal failures market-wise.

Moderators, please delete notes 230.0 and 230.4 These are ancient notes that I apparently entered by accident and have nothing to do with Gibson basses. I realize that the rest of note 230 should be spared. Please do what you can to get rid of the bogus for-sale notes. Mark |
