I am very confused with Oracle products. Can somebody fill up the table
below to help me understand which product is running on which OS.
If I understand the announcement below (Maynard May 12, 1997), we do not
have Oracle parallel server running on NT today. Please confirm.
Where can I get more info on this announcement.
Thanks
Christophe.

Digital Announces Scalable Support for Oracle Cluster
Solutions
Digital and Oracle Leverage Long-standing Alliance to Deliver
Windows NT Clustering Technology
MAYNARD, Mass., May 12, 1997 - Expanding its leadership
position in providing customers with enterprise-scale Windows NT
solutions, Digital Equipment Corporation today announced support
for Oracle cluster solutions on its Windows NT-based Prioris servers
and AlphaServer systems.
Digital, the acknowledged leader in clustering technology, is working
closely with Oracle Corporation to support Oracle Parallel Server for
Windows NT. Oracle Parallel Server provides users with
standards-based, open technology to support highly scalable, reliable,
available and manageable enterprise-class clustered solutions. Oracle
Parallel Server, combined with Digital's highly scalable Intel-based
Prioris servers and AlphaServer systems, delivers cost-effective,
high-performance computing solutions. Additionally, Digital will
provide significant enhancements to Oracle cluster solutions, including
such functionality as enhanced management capabilities, high-speed
interconnects, failover capabilities and increased operational
performance.
"We are very interested in Oracle and Digital delivering
mission-critical solutions for Windows NT," said Frank Caserta,
business unit executive, Acxiom Corporation, a supplier of
information technology and management services headquartered in
Conway, Ark. "We currently use Oracle on a number of
UNIX-based Digital AlphaServer 4100 and AlphaServer 8400
systems for mid-sized through very large database systems. As
Oracle continues to add availability and scalability solutions such
as clustering to its Windows NT line, we will begin using
Windows NT for larger database implementations.
"Our experience with Digital has shown that its AlphaServer
systems and Prioris servers are ideal Windows NT platforms for
price and performance. The ability to run Oracle solutions across
NT and UNIX using the same servers is an added benefit,"
Caserta said.
"Digital invented clustering technology more than 14 years ago,"
said Wes Melling, Digital vice president, Windows NT and
OpenVMS Systems Group. "Our expertise and understanding of
clustering in Windows NT, OpenVMS and UNIX enables us to
quickly bring high-quality performance, scalability and
manageability of clusters to the Windows NT platform. Through
our close and long-standing alliance with Oracle, we believe that
Oracle Parallel Server for Windows NT running on Digital
servers will provide customers with excellent functionality to
deploy mission-critical clustered solutions with enterprise-class
support."
"Oracle and Digital have an outstanding track record of
delivering scalable cluster solutions to our customers," said
Richard French, vice president of Oracle's Enterprise Platforms
Division. "For more than ten years, Oracle and Digital have
worked together to deliver leading cluster technology to the
OpenVMS and UNIX markets. The Oracle Parallel Server on
Digital Clusters l ong-standing world record TPC-C is evidence
of our success. With the availability of Oracle Parallel Server on
Digital's Intel and Alpha NT systems, Oracle provides leading
scalable database cluster solutions for all Digital platforms."
Product Availability
Digital will begin shipping its Intel-based Prioris servers with the
capability to support Oracle Parallel Server for Windows NT within
30-60 days of Oracle's first customer shipment. Digital is aggressively
developing support for Oracle Parallel Server for its Windows NT
AlphaServer systems, and will deliver product in calendar year 1997.
Today, Digital is the market leader in delivering clustering for
Windows NT, OpenVMS and its TruCluster Solutions for UNIX.
Digital Equipment Corporation is a world leader in open client/server
solutions from personal computing to integrated worldwide
information systems. Digital's scalable Alpha and Intel platforms,
storage, networking, software and services, together with
industry-focused solutions from business partners, help organizations
compete and win in today's global marketplace.
