Hi, A customer has purchased an AlphaServer for Oracle Workgroup Server, but they found that Alpha version was much lagging behind than Intel version. Oracle Workgroup Sever for Intel and Alpha/NT are 7.3 and 7.2 respectively. As Oracle and Digital has formed an alliance, can Digital do something to have Oracle commitment on the Alpha platform? According to local Oracle Office, Oracle Workgroup Server for Windows NT 7.3 will be released next month. Is there anyone know the release data at US? Besides, the coming release of Enterprise Server on March only support NT 3.51. Intel version has already ran on NT 4.0 This may hurt on sales for NT Alpha. Hopefully, the problem will be resolved soon. Is anyone know who is the alliance manager for Digital and Oracle?

This is the Global Account Manager for Oracle Ken Lewis, Global Account Manager [email protected] re: Oracle's commitment for Alpha/NT: April 6-11, Oracle OpenWorld will take place in Vienna/Austria. One of the sessions within the Oracle Server Technology string is titled: 'High Performance Oracle8 on Digital Alpha Windows NT, David Irwin, Oracle Corpration, USA'. While this does not answer directly your question, it shows that they seem to have included Alpha/Windows NT into their Oracle8 planning. |
