Hi, our customer wants to buy a NT cluster using Oracle. Due to cost reasons, he intends to buy Oracle Workgroup instead of Oracle Enterprise. Oracle Brazil says that NT cluster doesn't work with Oracle Workgroup, that the customer needs the Enterprise license. Is that true? Thanks, Cristina.

To put it up front: I haven't tried to install Oracle in NT yet but if Oracle licenses work the same way as on Unix what you pay for are the options on your contract. At least on Unix Oracle does not have any licensing technology built into their software. So if you get a hold of the right CD you will be able to install whatever you like. BUT!!! (and I guess that's true for any real world customer) you only get support from Oracle for what you pay for, e.g. Oracle Parallel Server Option. Hope this helps Martin

Digital NT Clusters supports both Oracle Workgroup Server and Oracle Enterprise server. In fact, Clusters 1.0 only claimed to support Workgroup but both would work. Cluster 1.1 which is being released in March states that both are supported. - Jack
