| I've finally stumbled on this notes file.
I know this topic is stale by a year or so, but I couldn't help giving the White
Album a few extra points, so here goes
1. White Album
2. White Album (Its a double is that OK?)
3. Abbey Road
Why, well thirty years have gone by now, and I get as much pleasure listening to
those albums now as I did 20 years ago. They've stood the test of 30 years (for
me anyway), and I guess they'll stay fresh for a long time to come.
I feel their earlier work allowed them to become the masters that they turned
out to be, but they seem to contain less diversity, and less depth of
expression. The White Album to me is a work of genious.

I never understand why the white album isn't more peoples'
favorite. It's got everything. Pure, simple, clean, the
cover art speaks of the music: stripped down, unpretentious,
roots rock that clearly reflects the author's individuality
as well as the unity of the band. I shoulda been a reviewer ;-)

Nice resume Tom,
I once heard McCartney on radio say that Sgt Pepper's (interesting that that
isn't higher on the list aswell) was his favourite of the Beatles albums, as it
had something for everyone and broke new ground. My feeling is that the White
Album goes further down the same road, with much greater diversity (Obla-di to
Birthday, Helter Skelter to While My Guitar Gently Weeps). Shame about Number 9
though.
A couple of guitarists I know (who are also Beatles' fans: 1 basist, 1 lead) say
the White Album is their prefered Beatles Album, but I guess proxy votes aren't
allowed in this topic.
Neil.
