5378.0. "Amiga Conference, Volume 2 is now OPEN!" by HYDRA::MOORE (Simply reinstall....EVERYTHING!) Mon Jan 27 1992 19:16

    OK, it looks like we may as well begin using the new Amiga conference.

        +=====================================================+
        | I hereby declare HYDRA::AMIGA_V2 open for business. |
        +=====================================================+

    Assuming you already have this conference entered in you notebook as
    "AMIGA", do the following commands to convert to the new file:

        Notes> MODIFY ENTRY AMIGA/FILE=HYDRA::AMIGA_V1/NAME=AMIGA_V1
        Notes> ADD ENTRY AMIGA/FILE=HYDRA::AMIGA_V2

    This will retain your "seen/unseen" map for the old file, while making
    AMIGA refer to the new volume.

    I'll leave AMIGA_V1 open for REPLIES for a few days to allow final
    comments to be attached to ongoing discussions.

I assume that after the "few days" we should all move to amiga_v2.

What happens when we want to discuss a topic that has been discussed already
in amiga_v1, but not moved to amiga_v2?

Should we just start a "new" topic in amiga_v2?

5378.2Feel free to carry forward 'live' topicsHYDRA::MOORESimply reinstall....EVERYTHING!Tue Jan 28 1992 01:583
    Yes, any topic you wish to continue discussing will be quite welcome
    in AMIGA_V2. Keeping V1 open for a bit is primarily so people won't
    feel like they're being "cut off"...

    I have done as described, but AMIGA_V2 shows up as having 0 unseen
    notes even though I know notes are being added?

    I've noticed that on other newly moved conferences also, what's the
    deal?

5378.5Maybe renaming notebook entries confuses NotesHYDRA::MOORESimply reinstall....EVERYTHING!Fri Jan 31 1992 23:3810
    It sounds like you've managed to attach your "seen map" from the old
    conference to the notbook entry for the new file. Perhaps when you
    closed AMIGA after renaming, Notes got confused and updated the new
    AMIGA entry instead of AMIGA_V1...?

    Oh well, try this to cancel the bogus seen map:

    	OPEN AMIGA                    ! (or AMIGA_V2)
    	SET SEEN/BEFORE=1-JAN-1980 ! Use any very old date

5378.6Add as a new conferenceNITMOI::WITHERSMon Feb 03 1992 11:436
    Simpler still, I deleted the conference and added it new and then
    set seen/before=(today). I'd recommend people add the new conference
    rather than do the Modify Conf /file described here..
