| John,
Rather than type in an answer to your questions that have been answered
a million times inhere!!
Try a dir/title=download or upload and also dir/title=la70.
A quick tip, get handshake off eot::amiga:[upload]hd*.*. There are a
lot of notes in here that will tell you how to get this onto a disk. If
you are really stuck stick a floppy in the popst to greg hilton @lzo
and I'll put handshake, and all the unpackers you want!!

5352.3 | A couple of answers | BOLTON::PLOUFF | Owns that third brand computer | Thu Jan 16 1992 15:59 | 27 |
| Welcome!
Probably the best way to get good answers to this stuff is by hoisting
a pint with another Amiga owner. Unfortunately the air fare prevents
me from filling that role and enjoying good English ale tonight. :-)
Who with, then? A DECcie will understand all your concerns, a member
of a local users group most of them. If nothing else, go visit one of
the computer stores advertising in UK Amiga magazines, and talk to
salespeople and customers there.
Briefly, a terminal emulator program (several available for free) will
turn your Amiga into a VT100, more or less. The Digital LA50 printer
has some printer driver support from inside this company (look in notes
with likely titles). The LA50 probably has a serial interface, and
since the A500 has only one serial port, you would have to switch back
and forth between using the modem and using the printer.
At 5000+ notes, this notesfile may seem daunting until you get more
knowledgeable about your new toy. However, you will find the online
community here large enough to answer nearly any question. There's
also a ton of free software on the Easynet, once you work out a
personal recipe for downloading.
Cheers,
Wes Plouff

The plus is the new ECS and 2.04 version of the 500. Get 1mb on board

| In response to the last note (5352.6)
Is your LA50 connected to the A500 or the A500+ ?
I thought that the LA50/LA75 had "no problems" for the AMIGA using
the standard interface (RS232) and appropriate device driver.
Keep in touch with your findings

Any Ami users in the area here (around CXO-2) that could help me get
started?
I would like to use Notes at home but know nothing else about my VAX
account except Notes.
What is the best communication software etc., and who do i see to get a
dial-in password and all that.
When and where do any user groups meet?
I Have been reading through this conference for weeks but i guess a
little personal "interface" would help augment the "how-to's".
Appreciate it!!
i work 3rd shift so mail me.
-maybe breakfast in the Cafe?
