5348.1 | Many ways to skin a PC | BAHTAT::HILTON | How's it going royal ugly dudes? | Wed Jan 15 1992 06:11 | 23 |
| Dunnno about best, but theer are 3 options
1 get the PC Patches off eot::. This patches the Commodore utils and
thus allows you to read/write/format MS-Dos disks on your Amiga
(Personally I think Commodore should include this patch!)
2. Get MessyDos of EOT:: allows you to access MS dos disks from the CLi
just as if it were an Amiga OS disk, ie dir msh: copy msh: dh0:#? etc
etc
3. Buy CRoss Dos for < $20 I think. Meant to be very good and easy to
use.
I use option 2, have used 1, never tried 3
:^)
PS Did you try a dir/title=pc or msdos or similiar this has been
discussed many time! Also do a dir/title=transfer/upload/download as
well as finding the seperate notes on Messydos etc!

5348.2 | try a terminal program and cable | ARRODS::GOLDSTEIN | Steve G. DTN: 847-5401 | Wed Jan 15 1992 07:19 | 6 |

If the systems are near each other then you could use a null-modem
cable and using a terminal program on both sides copy file to each
machine....

5348.3 | dir/title is only useful if... | REFINE::POMEROY | | Wed Jan 15 1992 07:43 | 7 |

Just felt like saying that I use 3 (and like it very much), used 1
and wasn't to thrilled, never tried 2.
And if you come across it, I don't recommend DOS2DOS. If you are
going to go commercial, get CrossDos.

5348.4 | or, try emit and a cable | REFINE::POMEROY | | Wed Jan 15 1992 07:47 | 11 |

I can't remember if this was talked about before (but I am sure it has)
If you are going to use a null modem, try to get EMIT working. I am
assuming that it is on EOT:: somewhere. If not let me know and I'll see
if I still have it to upload. It does direct harware fiddling to get
outrageously fast xfers. (Someone please correct me if I EMIT isn't the
program I mean to be talking about.)
