5341.0. "SAT Preparation software" by TEMPE::ARBUCKLE (WIZARD) Mon Jan 13 1992 12:02

I have a 15 year old who needs to get ready to take SAT's and was wondering if
anyone has or is familiar with any of the SAT preparation programs out there.
Also, if someone has a program they don't want/need, perhaps we can discuss
a purchase?  Thanks.

    FWIW, my older son was VERY successful (800/720) using only the study
    books that provide old SAT tests. If you look at the sheet that showed
    your child's PSAT scores, you'll notice that the questions in each
    section tend to start easy and get progressively harder. That piece of
    "quizmanship" can be turned to the test taker's advantage.

    Another thing that has been shown to be quite helpful on the verbal
    part of the SAT is READING. It doesn't matter much WHAT they read, as
    long as it challenges their vocabulary skills.

    I don't know if the SAT preparation software available for the Amiga or
    other home computers accomplishes the same ends. I suspect the books
    are cheaper.
