5294.0. "A fix for 32bit DMA problem." by VIVIAN::D_VISTUER () Fri Dec 20 1991 20:17
I have been making some inquires into DMA loading problems with the
A5000 from SSL and Mega Midget Racer and it seem to me that with these
accelarators installed you can have severe DMA I/O problems with speeds
being sometimes slower than a floppy.
But there is a cure which (provided you have the memory) can restore
your DMA I/O rate to within 10% of what it is with the 68000/010
installed.
It comes in the form of a patch and according to the writer is placed
in the startup-sequence as the first line. It performs it's magic and
voila you can DMA quite nicely into 32 bit ram.
I will upload it to eot:: but need to know the results/problems you get
so I can pass them on.
So, do I have any takers ???.
Regards.
Dave.
P.S. The memory required is not vast.
