I think i just got myself in a catch-22 situation. I just bought a SCSI drive and an IVP Grand Slam controller. This controller has an extra parallel port and a new device driver so that the printer will go to the new one and the original is freed up for frame-grabbers etc. But if i want to download some fonts, i must copy them to PAR:, but this is the original port. I can't copy to PRT: cus it interprets the codes. Do i have to play with the other drivers as described in the Grand Slam docs, or is there another way? mark

There should be another device name which is equivalent to PAR: but directed to the Grand Slam's port. Sorry, I have no idea what name to use, but I'm pretty sure it's there someplace. What exactly did you mean by "play with the other drivers as described in the Grand Slam docs"? Do they describe anything that looks like a device name substitution? | |||||

A quick talk to the folks at IVS gave the following results: o If you used the parallel install program then you should be okay. Both the PAR and PRT are re-directed to the GS output port. o If you didn't use the parallel install program, then you have two choices. 1) Use it :^) 2) You can do the install yourself as described in the manual. (I think that this is what you mean by "play" with the printer drivers as described in the manual. Hope this helps Clark |
